UGC-NET June 2026 results for 3 subjects

The National Testing Agency has declared the UGC-NET June 2026 results for English, Commerce and Sociology. In its press release dated 17 September 2026, NTA said the examination for these three subjects was held on 9 and 10 September at 454 centres in 272 cities across the country. Candidates can access the result through the UGC-NET website and log in to view, download or print the score card.

The examination was conducted in pursuance of an NTA public notice dated 16 August 2026. The result release covers the three subjects named in the notice and gives a combined picture of registration, attendance and qualification. The release also records the challenge process for the question papers, provisional answer keys and recorded responses before results were processed using answer keys finalised by experts.

Result figures for the three subjects

NTA reported 1,96,491 registered candidates across English, Commerce and Sociology. Of these, 1,20,355 candidates appeared in the examination. The result at a glance lists 824 candidates as qualified for Junior Research Fellowship, 11,610 as qualified for Assistant Professor, and 23,154 as qualified for PhD only. These are the combined figures for the three subjects in the press release, not a subject-wise table.

The release also gives the registration break-up by gender. It records 1,29,552 female candidates, or 65.93 per cent, 66,931 male candidates, or 34.06 per cent, and eight third-gender candidates, or 0.01 per cent. The figures are presented under the count of registered candidates for the three subjects. They describe registrations, while the separate appeared figure records candidates who took the examination.

How NTA processed the result

NTA says the question paper, provisional answer key or keys and recorded responses were hosted on the UGC-NET website from 10 September to 13 September. The period was provided for candidates to submit challenges. Challenges received by the agency were verified by experts, and the results were processed according to the answer keys finalised by those experts.

This sequence is why candidates should use the result and score card available through the official portal rather than relying on an earlier response view or provisional answer key. The press release describes the answer-key challenge process and then states that the result for English, Commerce and Sociology is being declared on 17 September 2026. It does not replace the individual score card with a separate newspaper-style merit list.

Candidates who find their details in the result can log in at ugcnet.nta.nic.in to view, download and print their score card, according to NTA. The score card is the online record the candidate can access from the UGC-NET website after login.

Eligibility checks will follow the result

NTA has added an important note for qualified candidates. The eligibility criteria, self-declaration and various documents will be verified by the concerned authorities according to the norms specified in the information bulletin for UGC-NET June 2026. The result announcement therefore records qualification in the examination, while the stated verification process remains part of the next stage.

Candidates should keep the score card and the documents required under the information bulletin ready for that verification. The press release does not say that the result itself removes the need for scrutiny. Instead, it directs eligible candidates to the applicable due process and reminds them that the concerned authorities will check the required conditions and documents.

The three subjects in this release were examined over two days, but NTA has presented the result figures together. Candidates should therefore read their own score card for the subject and result details rather than trying to infer individual status from the combined totals. The official UGC-NET website remains the place named in the notice for access.
