Kashi Vishwanath Temple has introduced a new rule for devotees attending the Mangla Aarti, one of the most revered and in-demand rituals at the temple. Under the revised booking system, a devotee who attends the Mangla Aarti once will not be eligible to book another slot for the next 90 days.

According to the temple administration, the decision has been implemented to improve transparency and ensure that a greater number of devotees get the opportunity to participate in the early morning aarti.

The move comes after repeated complaints regarding irregularities in the ticket booking process. Officials noted that in several instances, multiple bookings were allegedly being made using the same Aadhaar number, limiting access for genuine devotees. There were also concerns that touts were exploiting the system by securing multiple tickets and reselling them at inflated prices.

To address these issues, the administration has now restricted bookings to one Mangla Aarti slot per Aadhaar number every three months. Authorities believe this step will help curb misuse of the system and create a more equitable process for devotees visiting the temple.

Alongside the new restriction, the temple administration has also increased the number of Mangla Aarti tickets issued daily. Earlier, around 200–300 tickets were made available each day, but the capacity has now reportedly been expanded to nearly 700–800 tickets.

Officials say the combined approach of stricter booking regulations and increased ticket availability is expected to streamline the process, reduce black marketing, and improve the overall experience for pilgrims visiting Varanasi.

The development is being seen as a significant step towards making the Mangla Aarti booking system more transparent and accessible for devotees from across the country.
