NEW DELHI: Samsung's Galaxy M36 5G supports 25W wired charging, but its India product page says the fast charger is sold separately. Owners checking slow charging therefore need to distinguish the handset's supported rate from the adapter and cable actually connected to it.

Start with the accessory, then the setting

The distinction is easy to miss when a phone is passed on within a household. The M36 may arrive with a different adapter from the one used by its previous owner. Its charging specification remains the same, but the accessory pairing needs its own check. A larger number printed on another charger's packaging does not by itself establish compatibility.

Samsung's current India charging guidance says Super fast charging depends on more than maximum output: the adapter also needs the relevant USB Power Delivery PPS support. Cable specifications matter too. The useful check is therefore the charging system as a whole, rather than assuming any high-output adapter will deliver the phone's advertised charging experience.

In Samsung's guidance, the wired setting is reached through Settings, Battery and Charging settings, where Fast charging can be enabled. The company cautions that menus vary with the model and software version. On an M36, follow the wired option shown on the handset rather than expecting every illustration in a general Galaxy help page to match.

Make a simple physical check

The same guidance asks users to check the cable connection at the adapter and the phone. It also says fast charging does not activate from a PC or standard USB port. That gives an owner a sensible order of checks: identify the power source, confirm the accessory specifications, then look at the phone's charging setting.

This is especially relevant when an M36 is charged at a desk rather than through its usual wall adapter. A computer connection may be useful for another task, but it is not an equivalent test of the handset's fast-charging capability. A slower result in that setup would not, on its own, establish a battery fault.

Two battery figures describe different measurements

Samsung lists a 5000mAh typical battery and a 4905mAh rated minimum. The typical figure is an estimated average accounting for variation among tested samples. These are two descriptions of the battery specification, not two battery sizes attached to different M36 memory versions.

The distinction also prevents a mistaken runtime calculation. Capacity is not a promise of identical endurance for every owner. Samsung qualifies battery life by usage and network conditions. Someone recording clips, using navigation or browsing on a mobile connection is asking a different workload of the handset from someone leaving it largely idle.

What the M36's other hardware tells us

The launch announcement pairs the battery with an Exynos 1380 processor, a vapour cooling chamber and a Super AMOLED screen offering a 120Hz refresh rate. It also describes 4K recording on the front and rear cameras. That combination gives the phone several demanding uses beyond calls, which makes a single assumed daily charging routine an unreliable description of every owner's experience.

The cooling chamber is a hardware feature, not a charging-time guarantee. Equally, the presence of a smooth display and higher-resolution recording should not be converted into a claim about how quickly a particular user's battery will run down. Neither the specification sheet nor the launch announcement provides that individual measurement.

If the wired setup still behaves unexpectedly after these basic checks, Samsung's help page points to Phone diagnostics in Samsung Members. That is a way to gather more information, rather than a reason to infer a specific defective component from a slow-charge observation alone.
