Resolution and refresh rate answer different questions
Resolution describes the display's pixel arrangement; refresh rate describes how often it can update. The M16 has the higher-resolution panel in this pair, even though the maximum refresh-rate entry matches the M06. Reducing the comparison to the shared refresh figure would hide a material difference in the screen specification.
For Indian readers using a phone to view documents, read messages and watch downloaded content, that distinction is more useful than treating every display label as a score. The table identifies the actual panels. It does not establish a measured advantage in outdoor visibility, colour accuracy or battery use, which would require a different kind of comparison.
Samsung's joint launch announcement highlighted the M16's Full HD+ Super AMOLED display and adaptive high-brightness mode. The M06 was described with an HD+ display. The detailed product pages add the exact resolutions and panel technologies, making the difference explicit without relying on similar-looking promotional photographs.
The shared chip does not make the phones interchangeable
Samsung identifies the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor in both models. That is a useful common point, but it does not erase the screen and camera differences. Nor does the shared processor establish identical app performance under every workload, because this is a specification comparison rather than a measured test.
The same caution applies to the 5G label. Both are identified as 5G handsets, but Samsung qualifies actual network availability and speeds by location, provider and environment. Neither model name promises a particular download result in a reader's home or on a commute.
The camera layouts differ too
The M16's rear system includes an ultra-wide camera as well as its main and macro cameras. Samsung's announcement describes the M06's second rear camera as a depth camera. Someone comparing the two should therefore distinguish the roles of the extra lenses, rather than simply count the circles on the back panel.
The front cameras also have different resolutions, as the table shows. That is a verified specification difference, not a complete judgement about video calls or selfies. The surroundings and the way a scene is captured still matter. The published hardware table cannot settle every practical photography question by itself.
A small connection detail can change everyday use
The headphone connection is a less prominent distinction. Samsung lists a conventional stereo headphone socket on the M06, whereas the M16 specification identifies USB Type-C for headphones. For someone already using wired earphones, that is a concrete compatibility point, separate from screen technology or processor branding.
There is also a shared storage qualification: both reviewed India specification sheets describe a hybrid SIM-or-microSD position. The ability to use a memory card should therefore be read alongside the tray arrangement. A household using separate work and personal SIMs has a different practical requirement from someone using a single connection.
These details make the pair useful to compare without forcing a winner. The M16 and M06 share a processor and maximum refresh-rate entry, yet diverge in screen type, resolution, camera arrangement and headphone connection. The relevant difference depends on the task being discussed, not just where each model sits in the naming sequence.
