"Don’t Worry About Ayodhya, Do Penance": CM Yogi Adityanath Slams Akhilesh Yadav, Dares Him to Back Mathura Movement

The political war of words in Uttar Pradesh has escalated sharply following a direct counter-attack by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath against Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav over the Ayodhya Ram Temple row.

The exchange intensifies an ongoing confrontation between the ruling BJP and the opposition SP concerning religious, cultural, and administrative issues in the state.

"Introspect and Repent"

Addressing a public gathering, CM Yogi Adityanath directed a strongly worded statement at the former Chief Minister, telling him to shift his focus away from Ayodhya's affairs.

"Akhilesh ji, don't worry about Ayodhya. Instead, introspect and repent. Visit Shri Ram Lalla once; perhaps it will bring wisdom," Adityanath said.

The Chief Minister's remarks were a sharp rebuttal to Yadav's recent public statements targeting the state government over alleged irregularities and an ongoing Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe regarding temple donations. Yadav had previously claimed that his party, if voted to power, would develop Ayodhya into an exemplary religious city named 'Siyaram-Dham'. Adityanath dismissed these promises, reminding the public of the 1990 police firing on kar sevaks under the erstwhile Samajwadi Party regime.

The Challenge Over Mathura

Taking the ideological battle a step further, the Chief Minister challenged the Samajwadi Party leader to openly support the ongoing movement for the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi in Mathura.

Adityanath urged Yadav to back the cause explicitly, drawing a direct parallel to the decade-long civil campaign that ultimately led to the construction of the grand Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. He argued that if the opposition leadership truly cares about Sanatan heritage, they should demonstrate the courage to speak out clearly in favor of liberating the sacred site in Mathura.

High-Stakes Political Posturing

The sharp rhetoric underlines a deeper political polarization in Uttar Pradesh, where temple governance, accountability, and cultural preservation remain high-stakes issues for both parties. While the BJP continues to position itself as the sole custodian of the state's cultural renaissance, the Samajwadi Party has increasingly attempted to corner the government on operational transparency and local rights
