Coal Price Surge Amid Gas Shortage Hits Hotels, Small Businesses and Households

People already struggling with gas booking problems are now facing another challenge as coal prices have suddenly increased. The sharp rise in coal rates has added to the difficulties of households, small businesses, and food establishments that rely on it as an alternative fuel.

According to traders, the price of coal has increased by nearly ₹3,000 per ton, while the cost of a full truckload of coal has risen to around ₹65,000. This increase is expected to have a direct impact on hotels, roadside eateries, small industries, and families that still depend on coal for cooking and other daily needs.

Due to the ongoing shortage and delays in LPG cylinder bookings, many people had already started using alternative fuel sources such as coal and diesel stoves. However, with coal now becoming more expensive, their financial burden has grown even heavier.

Local residents say the situation has made it increasingly difficult to manage household kitchens. They complain that on one hand, cooking gas is not available on time, and on the other hand, coal prices have gone up significantly.

Business owners, especially those running small hotels and eateries, fear that if the situation continues, operating costs will rise further, forcing them to increase food prices or reduce their operations.

The public is now demanding quick action from authorities to address both the gas supply issues and the sudden rise in coal prices to provide relief to common people.
