NEW DELHI: CMF Phone 1 supports dual 4G registration, but only the main data SIM can carry the data service, according to Nothing's model-specific support page. Owners can select separate preferences for mobile data, calls and SMS in SIM settings. Setting those choices deliberately is the useful first step when personal and work numbers share this phone.

Give the data SIM a clear job
Nothing's CMF Phone 1 help category describes dual card dual standby and provides a settings route for choosing data, calls and SMS preferences. Open Settings, then Network & internet, then SIM card. Review each preference on the handset rather than assuming that the SIM used for outgoing calls is also the selected mobile-data connection.
For an Indian owner using a personal number alongside an office number, the distinction is practical. Calls may need to leave through the work account while routine browsing belongs on the personal plan. Setting each preference explicitly makes that arrangement easier to understand and easier to explain when something behaves unexpectedly.
The dual 4G answer is particularly specific: both cards can register on the network, but only the main card uses the data service. That supports a clear reading of the feature. Registration on both connections is not evidence that the phone combines their mobile-data allowances or downloads through both simultaneously.
Test mobile data separately from home Wi-Fi
A useful check is to establish which connection is carrying the traffic before changing a SIM preference. Note whether Wi-Fi is connected, then check the selected mobile-data SIM. This separates a home-network problem from the mobile account that would be used away from the router. It also gives support a more precise description.
The official CMF support material confirms Wi-Fi 6. That capability is another part of the phone's connectivity, rather than a change to the dual-SIM rule. A wireless connection to a home router and a mobile-data connection through a SIM have different upstream services. Switching between them changes what needs to be investigated.
Consider a train journey followed by a return to home broadband. If a download works at home but fails outside, the first useful question is which service was active in each place. The phone's dual registration can remain visible while the actual data selection matters much more to the task being attempted.
Sharing internet with a computer
Nothing also documents USB tethering in this model's help section. Its stated route is Settings, Network & internet, Hotspot & tethering, USB tethering. The instructions call for connecting the phone and computer with a USB cable and ensuring that the phone itself has internet access through mobile data or Wi-Fi.
For a laptop used during a home broadband interruption, that gives the phone another role. The important planning step is to identify the connection being shared. A tethered computer may perform tasks beyond what is visible on the handset screen, so the owner should know which mobile account is selected before relying on that route.
Keep a record before troubleshooting
Write down the SIM selected for data, the preference for outgoing calls and whether Wi-Fi was connected when the problem occurred. Then describe the task that failed, such as opening a page or sharing the connection with a computer. This is a more useful account than reporting only that a dual-SIM phone has no internet.
These checks concern connection choices on CMF Phone 1. They do not establish a network's coverage at a particular location, combine two plans or promise a particular speed. The model's published support answers define the available functions; the owner's settings determine how those functions are used for the immediate task.
