Chowk Becomes Varanasi's First Police Station With ISO 9001 Certificate

Chowk police station has received an ISO 9001 certificate, becoming the first station in the Varanasi Commissionerate to clear the quality-management audit, with Police Commissioner Mohit Agarwal calling it his adopted station and urging other stations to raise standards on complaint handling, public dialogue and crime control.

The certificate followed a roughly three-month third-party audit against ISO 9001:2015 standards. Commissioner Agarwal said Chowk had met tough international benchmarks on work quality, public satisfaction, personnel facilities, public dialogue and crime control. He congratulated the station staff and said he wanted other stations to follow so that public trust rises, describing Chowk as a model station inside the commissionerate.

The process covered training, public engagement and crime-control systems rather than a one-day paperwork check. An inspection of the office, malkhana, cyber helpdesk and Mission Shakti centre formed part of the same administrative day. Officers and volunteers felicitated with the station included Sub-Inspector Mansi Verma, Head Constable Krishan Kumar Singh, Constable Sunil Kumar, women constables Divya Singh, Tejaswi Ojha and Prachi Shukla, Police Mitra Nidhi Dev Agrawal and volunteer Vijay Mishra.
