Banaras Hindu University’s Institute of Agricultural Sciences has listed four temporary Young Professional posts, with a walk-in interview at 11 am on Friday, 30 October 2026. Three positions are for agriculture graduates and one is for a postgraduate candidate in specified food, dairy or livestock-product disciplines. The interview venue is Committee Room No. 1 at the institute in Varanasi.

The university’s current vacancy listing links an advertisement for projects funded by the Uttar Pradesh Council of Agricultural Research, Lucknow. The advertisement itself does not carry an issue date. Its stated 30 October interview and application arrangements were checked on 13 October; the deadline should not be confused with the date the recruitment was announced.

Four posts across different projects

There is one Young Professional-I vacancy with Dr Kartikeya Srivastava for research involving mustard and groundnut, including crop stress and agronomic practices. A second Young Professional-I post, with Dr Jayasudha S., concerns the identification and characterisation of Uttar Pradesh maize landraces for nutritional potential and their response to biotic and abiotic stresses.

The third Young Professional-I position is with Dr Kumari Shikha, on a project concerning direct-seeded rice systems in Uttar Pradesh. Each of these three projects has one advertised vacancy. The common essential qualification is a four-year B.Sc. Agriculture degree.

The Young Professional-II post is with Dr Tarun Verma for research on processing goat milk and developing value-added functional foods. This is the only vacancy in the advertisement carrying the higher Young Professional-II designation. The project title describes a research objective; it does not announce a finished commercial food or establish a health benefit for consumers.

For this post, the essential qualification is an M.Tech. or postgraduate degree in one of the listed subjects: Food Technology, Dairy Technology, Dairy Science, Dairy Chemistry, Dairy Microbiology, Dairy Engineering, Food Science or Livestock Product Technology. Candidates should match their qualification to the actual list rather than assume any postgraduate science degree is covered.

The advertisement separates essential and desirable qualifications. For the three Young Professional-I roles, at least two years of field-experimentation experience, together with demonstrated computer and statistical knowledge, is listed as desirable. For Young Professional-II, the desirable entry specifies a relevant Ph.D./NET qualification, along with a good publication record.

Pay, age limits and temporary terms

Young Professional-I carries consolidated remuneration of Rs 30,000 a month. For Young Professional-II, the figure is Rs 42,000 a month. These are the amounts stated in the recruitment notice, not a calculation including additional allowances. The advertisement does not specify a separate housing allowance.

The upper age limit is 28 years for the Young Professional-I vacancies and 30 years for Young Professional-II. It provides five years of relaxation for women, SC/ST candidates and candidates with physical disabilities, and three years for OBC candidates. The notice does not identify a separate date for calculating age, so applicants needing clarification should use the relevant project contact.

The projects are described as running for three years. The posts are expressly temporary and co-terminus with the projects, meaning that their duration is tied to the project concerned. The advertisement does not offer permanent university employment or guarantee a fresh three-year term from an individual candidate’s joining date.

How to submit the application

Applications are on plain paper. The notice asks for the candidate’s name and permanent and correspondence addresses, parents’ names, telephone number and email address, and educational history from high school or equivalent onward. Attested copies of marksheets and certificates should accompany the application, along with details of research or other experience, if any.

The application instructions require a soft copy to the respective principal investigator’s email, along with a hard copy, on or before the interview date. They also allow submission at the time of the interview. Candidates should read the original advertisement for the correct project email and the full wording of these arrangements. There is no common online application form linked in this notice.

No travel or daily allowance will be paid for attending the interview. The notice does not announce a separate written examination or a joining date. Applicants should check the official vacancy page again before making travel arrangements in case the university posts a change.

For wider campus context, Dalimss News has reported on research from BHU’s dairy-science department. Candidates considering an academic programme can separately read the BHU Ph.D. admission schedule; that admission process has its own requirements and is separate from these four project appointments.
