Bharat Electronics reported September-quarter standalone revenue of ₹7,290.87 crore, up 26.5% from ₹5,763.65 crore a year earlier, in results approved on October 30. Profit after tax rose 19.8% to ₹1,540.73 crore from ₹1,286.13 crore. Profit grew more slowly than revenue as the company's total expenses increased faster than its operating sales.
The exchange filing contains unaudited standalone and consolidated statements for the quarter and half year ended September 30, 2026, together with limited-review reports. These are second-quarter FY2026-27 results, not full-year numbers. The board meeting started at 2 pm and ended at 4:40 pm on October 30, before NSE broadcast the outcome at 5:02:28 pm.
The headline figures use BEL's standalone accounts. Its consolidated statement separately reported revenue from operations of ₹7,327.72 crore, against ₹5,792.09 crore. Profit attributable to owners of the company rose 19.6% to ₹1,540.19 crore from ₹1,287.77 crore. Total consolidated profit, including non-controlling interests, was slightly different at ₹1,540.37 crore, compared with ₹1,287.16 crore.
Revenue and expenses rise at different rates
In the standalone statement, other income rose to ₹190.43 crore from ₹159.10 crore, taking total income to ₹7,481.30 crore against ₹5,922.75 crore. Revenue from operations excludes that other-income component. Keeping the two lines separate avoids treating income outside the operating revenue line as additional sales when assessing the quarter's growth.
Total expenses increased 29.3% to ₹5,417.26 crore from ₹4,188.45 crore. Materials consumed cost ₹3,425.43 crore, compared with ₹2,992.10 crore, while consumption of stock-in-trade increased to ₹286.71 crore from ₹103.70 crore. The inventory-change line was a positive expense of ₹241.21 crore, against a negative ₹267.88 crore a year earlier, another difference between the two quarters.
Employee-benefit expenses were broadly unchanged at ₹760.24 crore, against ₹761.16 crore. Depreciation and amortisation increased to ₹163.28 crore from ₹118.47 crore, and other expenses rose to ₹537.80 crore from ₹479.25 crore. Those are reported expense categories; the statement does not assign the revenue increase to individual products or contracts, and these figures alone do not establish such a breakdown.
Standalone profit before tax increased 19.0% to ₹2,064.04 crore from ₹1,734.30 crore. The exceptional-items line showed no charge in either comparison quarter. Total tax provision was ₹523.31 crore, compared with ₹448.17 crore. Basic and diluted earnings per share were ₹2.11 against ₹1.76; the quarterly EPS figures are not annualised.
Half-year accounts and the dated order book
Across the first six months, standalone revenue increased 26.0% to ₹12,823.93 crore from ₹10,180.48 crore. Half-year profit after tax rose 14.8% to ₹2,589.06 crore from ₹2,255.26 crore. Those April-to-September totals include both the June and September quarters and should not be added to the September-quarter results as if they were a separate reporting period.
The accompanying company release put the order book at ₹68,717 crore as of October 1, 2026. That is a dated measure of orders on the company's books, not revenue already recognised in the September quarter or a new order announcement made on October 30. The release does not turn the whole amount into a forecast of revenue for the remaining financial year.
The standalone cash-flow statement also showed a change from the prior half year. Net cash generated from operating activities was ₹1,469.06 crore for April to September, compared with an outflow of ₹881.14 crore a year earlier. Purchases of property, plant, equipment and other intangible assets used ₹535.27 crore, against ₹453.13 crore. These are cash-flow measures, separate from the profit statement's depreciation expense. The cash-flow statement notes that previous-year figures were regrouped or reclassified where necessary; the comparisons here use that published table.
Closing price preceded the results filing
BEL closed at ₹369.90 on NSE, down ₹0.10, or 0.03%, from the previous close of ₹370.00. The quote was timestamped October 30 at 4 pm IST. Because the results broadcast followed at 5:02:28 pm, that closing move should not be described as a response to these subsequently filed earnings.
Dalimss News is also following Coal India's September-quarter accounts and Trent's Q2 results. BEL's own figures show higher sales and profit, but different growth rates for revenue, expenses and earnings. The standalone and group statements, quarterly and half-year periods, and order-book date remain distinct when comparing those figures. This report is not investment advice.
