Six-Day Yoga Book Exhibition Opens at Sayaji Rao Gaekwad Library in Varanasi

Varanasi, June 24: A six-day special exhibition of books and research materials on yoga is being held at Sayaji Rao Gaekwad Library in Varanasi to mark International Yoga Day.
The exhibition began on Saturday and is scheduled to remain open till June 25. It has been organised at BHU's Central Library, which is one of the university's major academic resource centres.
Exhibition Marks International Yoga Day
The exhibition was inaugurated by BHU Vice-Chancellor Prof Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi, according to reports. It has been designed to create awareness among students, researchers, faculty members and visitors about yoga's wider intellectual and cultural traditions.
International Yoga Day is often associated with public practice sessions, but the library exhibition highlights another important side of yoga: its literature, philosophy, research and historical development.
Books and Research Material on Display
The collection on display reportedly includes books, research publications, journals and rare manuscripts related to yoga. The themes include yoga and health, yoga and spirituality, yogic philosophy, disease prevention through yoga and the contributions of saints and spiritual leaders to yoga traditions.
The exhibition also draws attention to print and digital resources available through the library. For students and research scholars, such displays can serve as a useful starting point for academic work on Indian knowledge systems, health practices and cultural history.
Promoting Yoga Knowledge Beyond Practice
Yoga is widely practised for physical and mental well-being, but its intellectual traditions are equally significant. Books and manuscripts help readers understand how yoga has developed across philosophy, medicine, spirituality and everyday discipline.
The exhibition is open to students, research scholars, faculty members, university employees and members of the public. It adds an academic dimension to International Yoga Day observances in Varanasi.
