Viral "Work From Bike" Stunt in Hyderabad Sparks Road Safety Outcry

A startling video from Hyderabad has ignited a heated debate on social media after a man was spotted operating a laptop balanced on the fuel tank of his motorcycle while navigating through busy traffic. The incident, which took place in the city's Hitec City area on June 12, 2026, has been widely condemned as an extreme and dangerous example of "work-from-bike" culture.
The Incident
In the viral footage, the rider is seen operating an open laptop placed directly on his vehicle's fuel tank. As he manoeuvres through the road, he appears to shift his attention between the busy traffic and the glowing laptop screen, multitasking in a way that has left onlookers and online viewers alarmed.
Social media users reacted with a mixture of shock and harsh criticism. While some jokingly dubbed the individual the "Best Employee of the Year," many others labeled him the "worst rider of the year," emphasizing that no job deadline is worth risking one's life or the safety of others.
Official Response
The incident caught the attention of local authorities, prompting a strong warning from the Hyderabad Commissioner of Police, VC Sajjanar.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Commissioner Sajjanar condemned the act as "irresponsible" and "life-threatening". He remarked, "Every task has its own method. But, seeing people risking their lives to work from a bike like this… the saying that 'when greed gets too much, it turns against your own life' feels literally true". He further stressed that when operating a vehicle, total focus must remain on the road and traffic, as even a split-second distraction can have fatal consequences.
A Growing Concern
The video has reignited broader concerns regarding road safety and the rising trend of performing risky stunts for social media attention. Road safety advocates are using this incident to highlight the dangers of distracted riding, urging commuters to prioritize personal safety over work pressures or digital clout.
As the video continues to circulate, many are calling for authorities to identify the rider and take appropriate action to discourage such reckless behavior in the future.
