In a major boost to local infrastructure, Varanasi is set to witness the construction of a new bridge over the Varuna River between Daniyalpur and Phulwaria. The project falls within the parliamentary constituency of Narendra Modi and is expected to significantly improve connectivity for over two lakh residents in the region.

According to official sources, the proposed bridge will be a 100-meter-long, two-lane structure, complete with approach roads on both sides to ensure seamless movement. The total estimated cost of the project stands at ₹33.86 crore, with the first installment of around ₹11.85 crore already released. The construction process, including design work and soil testing, is likely to begin soon under the supervision of the state bridge corporation.

For years, residents of Daniyalpur, Phulwaria, and adjoining areas have faced difficulties due to the lack of a permanent bridge. Commuters have relied on temporary arrangements such as wooden crossings and pontoon (pipa) bridges, which often become unreliable, especially during the monsoon season when water levels rise.

The upcoming bridge is expected to benefit several nearby localities, including Badevli, Pisaur, Bhawanipur, Shivpur, Mathurapur, and Bharthara. It will not only reduce travel time but also improve access to essential services like schools, hospitals, and local markets.

Additionally, the new structure will strengthen connectivity between key road networks in the area, providing an alternative route alongside the existing Pisaur bridge. This is expected to ease traffic congestion and support smoother transportation.

While the approval of the project marks a long-awaited step toward development, residents and officials alike will now be closely watching its timely execution and construction quality. Once completed, the bridge is expected to offer a safer, more reliable transport link, contributing to the overall growth and development of the region.
