Varanasi to Get Flood Gate at Samne Ghat Drain as Municipal Commissioner Orders Permanent Solution to Waterlogging

Varanaasi: In a major step towards providing a permanent solution to waterlogging and flood-related issues in Bhagwanpur and nearby areas of Varanasi, Municipal Commissioner Himanshu Nagpal has directed officials to immediately prepare a proposal for the construction of a flood gate (embankment) on the Samne Ghat drain. The project aims to protect residents from recurring flooding during the monsoon and rising river levels.
During an inspection of ongoing development works, the commissioner also expressed strong displeasure over slow progress, poor-quality construction, and negligence by contractors. Vendors were issued a final warning, while officials were instructed to complete projects within deadlines, take action against illegal road cutting, and prioritize city beautification efforts.
