Varanasi Court on High Alert After 4th Bomb Threat in 14 Days

Varanasi: A fresh security alert has been triggered in Varanasi after a senior advocate associated with Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand received a bomb threat, marking the fourth such threat to the Varanasi Kachahari within the last 14 days. The advocate, Srinath Tripathi, who is also a member of the Bar Council of India, received a threatening message stating that the court premises would be blown up and that he would be targeted as well.
Following the threat, police and administrative officials swung into action, conducting an intensive security check across the court complex. An FIR has been registered at the Bhelupur police station, and the investigation has been taken up on priority. As a precautionary measure, security has been provided to the advocate, and additional police personnel have been deployed across sensitive points in the court premises to prevent any untoward incident.
Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Alok Priyadarshi stated that the matter is being investigated with full seriousness and efforts are underway to trace the source of the threat. The case has gained added significance as the advocate is currently representing matters linked to Shankaracharya-related legal proceedings, including a sensitive POCSO Act case. Authorities have maintained that strict vigilance will continue to ensure safety and maintain law and order in Varanasi.
