Varanasi Commissioner Issues Stern Warning After Filthy Condition Found at Public Toilet.

A routine inspection turned into a strict reprimand for civic officials on Monday when Varanasi Municipal Commissioner Himanshu Nagpal expressed severe displeasure over sanitation standards at key tourist spots.

The Inspection: Mayor Ashok Kumar Tiwari and Commissioner Nagpal conducted a joint inspection of Godaulia, Dashashwamedh, and Manmandir Ghats.

Commissioner's Action: Upon visiting a Sulabh Shauchalay (public toilet) at Dashashwamedh Ghat, the Commissioner found the facility filthy and the urinals damaged.

Reprimand: He issued a stern warning to City Health Officer Dr. S.K. Chaudhary and the manager of the Sulabh facility.

Stray Animals: Observing stray animals roaming the streets, he directed Veterinary Officer Dr. Santosh Pal to launch an immediate drive to catch them.

Mayor's Checks: Meanwhile, Mayor Ashok Kumar Tiwari inspected the 'Rain Basera' (night shelter) at Dr. Rajendra Prasad Ghat. Going a step further to ensure accountability, he called the contact numbers listed in the visitor register to take direct feedback from the travelers regarding the facilities.
