Varanasi ATS Raid: Doctor’s House Searched in Aadampur Over Suspected Terror Links, Digital Evidence Under Scanner

A major security operation unfolded in Varanasi after a joint team of the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Mumbai ATS, and the Intelligence Bureau (IB) conducted a high-intensity raid at a doctor’s residence in the Aadampur area. The operation, which lasted between seven to nine hours, is linked to ongoing investigations into suspected terror activities and funding networks.
According to initial reports, the raid was carried out in connection with the recent arrest of four suspected terror operatives in Lucknow. Security agencies suspect that the case may have wider links, prompting coordinated action across multiple locations.
During the search, officials seized several electronic devices including mobile phones, laptops, and a printer for forensic examination. Investigators are focusing on digital communications and financial transactions, as preliminary findings indicate suspicious monetary activity involving transactions worth several lakhs. Sources also suggest that agencies are probing possible links with individuals connected to networks in Pakistan and Kashmir. In particular, digital chats and online interactions of the doctor’s 20-year-old son—who is preparing for medical entrance exams—are under detailed scrutiny, amid suspicions of contact with a “Kashmiri module.”
The entire locality witnessed heavy police deployment during the operation, with security personnel restricting movement in the narrow lanes around the residence. Local residents expressed shock, describing the family as socially respectable and well-known in the area.
Officials have not yet issued a formal statement, and no arrests have been confirmed so far. Authorities maintain that the investigation is ongoing, with forensic analysis of seized devices expected to play a crucial role in determining the extent of any alleged links.
As the probe deepens, agencies are working to verify all leads before drawing conclusions, indicating that this could be part of a larger network under investigation.
