Sigra Police Arrest Man Accused of Stealing ₹12.50 Lakh Gold Chain After Cantt Clash

Sigra police arrested Babulal Chaurasia of Anoila Taktakpur on Thursday night, 17 September 2026, in a case alleging theft of a 74-gram gold chain valued around ₹12.50 lakh after a roadside clash near the Cantt Roadways bus stand. He was remitted to jail on Friday, 18 September. ACP (Chetganj) Shubham Jain briefed that officers scanned roughly 200 CCTV cameras to trace him. The accused is a Cantt police-station area resident. Officers also cite six prior cases alleged against him, including five loot or theft matters at Prayagraj GRP. Those priors remain allegations until a court tests them.
