GURUGRAM: A man driving a Delhi-registered Mahindra Thar repeatedly rammed a Rapido cab in Sector 89 late Friday night after a quarrel among four people who had been travelling together in the SUV, according to the cab driver's complaint and video that later circulated online.

Police and witnesses said the four reached Sector 89 in the Thar when a dispute broke out. Two of the men got out and booked a Rapido cab to return home. When the cab arrived and they sat inside, the Thar allegedly began following. Footage shows the SUV reversing and crashing into the cab at speed more than once while the cab driver shouted for the other vehicle to stop.

Airbags deployed; accused fled spot

The repeated impacts badly damaged the front of the cab. The two passengers and the cab driver escaped serious injury after the airbags deployed. People nearby recorded the episode on their phones. After the incident, the cab driver informed police at Kherki Daula police station. The Thar driver and another man who remained with him left before officers arrived, according to the complaint account.

Police have registered a case based on the cab driver's statement and begun an investigation. Officers are trying to identify and trace the accused using the registration details of the Delhi-registered Thar. Exact section details in the FIR should be confirmed from the station record as early public accounts have varied on the precise charges framed.

Road-rage style ramming after personal disputes has become a recurring pattern on outer sector roads where late-night traffic thins and SUVs can accelerate quickly. Anyone with clearer video of the Thar's number plate or of the occupants has been asked to share it with Kherki Daula police. Cab aggregators operating late routes through Sector 89 and nearby belts often advise drivers to move toward lit junctions and call police rather than argue on the carriageway when another vehicle turns aggressive.

Allegations remain under investigation until the accused are identified, arrested if warranted, and the evidence is tested in court. The presence of phone video strengthens the complainant's account but still needs forensic matching to the registration trail before charges harden. Night patrols on the Sector 89 connector toward Kherki Daula may increase while the hunt for the Thar continues. Officials said they would share further updates once laboratory or investigation files move to the next formal stage, and residents have been asked to rely on verified police or civic statements rather than unverified forwards.
