CHENNAI: Royal Enfield sold 1,33,958 motorcycles in September 2026, its highest-ever monthly total, according to the sales figures Eicher Motors filed with the stock exchanges on 1 October. That is 8 percent more than the 1,24,328 units it sold in September 2025.

The growth came almost entirely from the smaller bikes. Models up to 350cc, a group that also includes Royal Enfield's electric motorcycles, rose 13 percent to 1,21,495 units. Bikes above 350cc went the other way, falling 26 percent to 12,463 units from 16,850 a year ago.

In other words, more than nine out of every ten Royal Enfields sold last month were 350cc or smaller. That group includes the Classic 350, Hunter 350, Bullet 350, Meteor 350 and Goan Classic 350.

Domestic and export split

Sales in India were 1,21,326 units in September, up 7 percent from 1,13,573. Exports grew faster, rising 17 percent to 12,632 units from 10,755 in September 2025.

For the first half of the financial year, April to September 2026, Royal Enfield's total sales stand at 7,09,096 units, 20 percent higher than the 5,91,903 units of the same period last year. Domestic sales in these six months grew 23 percent to 6,42,021 units, while exports for the half year are down 5 percent at 67,075 units.

The bigger bikes are also down for the half year. Models above 350cc sold 74,784 units between April and September, 9 percent fewer than 82,293 a year earlier. The company's statement does not explain the fall, and it does not break the figure down by model.

Himalayan 440 booked for six months

The most useful detail for buyers is in the business update attached to the filing. Royal Enfield says the new Himalayan 440, launched in September to mark ten years of the Himalayan name, is fully booked for six months.

If that holds, someone booking a Himalayan 440 today could be looking at a delivery around March or April 2027, not in time for Diwali. Waiting periods vary by city and colour, so ask the dealer for a written delivery estimate before paying the booking amount. The bike is offered in Sela Black, Mustang Brown and Nelong White.

B. Govindarajan, Managing Director of Eicher Motors and CEO of Royal Enfield, said the response to the Himalayan 440 had been "far exceeding our expectations" and that the company is "scaling up production, inventory and channel readiness to cater to the festive season". Whether that scale-up shortens the queue is the question festive buyers will be asking.

The Classic 350 Signature White, introduced last month with touring seats, an assist and slipper clutch and USB Type-C charging as standard, is mentioned in the same update.

Electric and international moves

Royal Enfield's electric brand, Flying Flea, has entered Europe and the UK with the Flying Flea C6. The company says the bike will be sold from Flying Flea stores in Paris, Barcelona, Rome, Berlin and London, with deliveries due to start by October 2026.

In Asia, the company launched the Guerrilla 450 Apex and Goan Classic 350 in the Philippines, and announced the Bullet 650 and Guerrilla 450 Apex for Cambodia.

The update also notes that Royal Enfield won the two-wheeler maker category in the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) Dealer Satisfaction Survey 2026 for the second year in a row, with 878 index points. It now has more than 2,074 stores in India.

How it compares with the market

September was a strong month for most two-wheeler makers as dealers stocked up for Navratri and Diwali. TVS Motor reported total sales of 6.73 lakh units, as we reported in our TVS Motor September sales story, while Bajaj Auto's exports drove its own numbers, covered in our Bajaj Auto September report.

These are dispatch figures, meaning bikes sent from factories to dealers, not retail sales to customers. Registration data for October, when the festive rush peaks with Diwali on 8 November, will give a clearer picture of how many of these motorcycles have actually reached riders.

The full figures are in the Eicher Motors filing for September 2026.
