Rani Lakshmibai Scooty Scheme UP: Who Is Eligible for Free Scooty? Check Rules and Merit Criteria

The Uttar Pradesh government has outlined the eligibility criteria for its proposed Rani Lakshmibai Scooty Scheme, aimed at supporting meritorious female students pursuing higher education. Under the scheme, free petrol scooters will be provided to eligible students based on merit rather than through a universal distribution. The initiative is intended to improve access to education by making daily travel safer and more convenient for young women.
According to the announced guidelines, beneficiaries must be domiciles of Uttar Pradesh and should have completed their graduation during the 2025–26 academic session from a state university, private university, or an affiliated government, aided, or self-financed college in Uttar Pradesh. Selection is expected to be made from among the top-performing students, with priority given to the top 5% of eligible candidates based on merit.
The government has also stated that the scooters will be procured through the Government e-Marketplace (GeM). Along with the vehicle, beneficiaries are expected to receive registration, comprehensive insurance, an ISI-certified helmet, four litres of petrol, and other essential accessories. Detailed information regarding the application process, timeline, and distribution schedule is expected to be released separately. Authorities have advised students to rely only on official government announcements and avoid misinformation circulating on social media.
