GURUGRAM: Rain on Friday, October 30, 2026, coincided with a sharp improvement in the city's air, with CPCB recording an AQI of 69 at 4 pm IST, in the satisfactory category. IMD's Gurgaon automatic weather station recorded a maximum temperature of 20 degrees Celsius. This is a new development after the poor air reading as reported earlier on dalimss.news for October 28.

The new air quality bulletin covers Gurugram as a city, using three of its four monitoring stations. It does not give a separate reading for every sector, road or society. Residents in Sector 51, Gwal Pahari and other neighbourhoods should read the city figure as an average, rather than as a measurement outside their own homes.

What the official air figures show

The CPCB bulletin dated October 30 describes the 4 pm reading as an average of the preceding 24 hours. Gurugram's prominent pollutants were PM2.5, PM10 and nitrogen dioxide. The bulletin identifies three participating stations out of four, so the published average does not represent a complete set of observations from the city's monitoring network.

The comparable October 29 bulletin recorded Gurugram at 240, in the poor category, also with three of four stations participating. Friday's published value was therefore 171 index points lower. This comparison uses the two official daily bulletins at the same reporting time, rather than mixing a morning live reading with an afternoon daily average.

Manesar improved as well. Its daily AQI fell from 228 on October 29 to 77 on October 30, moving from poor to satisfactory. One station participated on both dates. On Friday, the bulletin named PM10 as Manesar's prominent pollutant. Gurugram and Manesar are separate entries in CPCB's table and should not be combined into a single district reading.

PlaceOctober 29, 4 pm ISTOctober 30, 4 pm IST
Gurugram240, poor69, satisfactory
Manesar228, poor77, satisfactory

CPCB's separate October 30 bulletin for the National Capital Region confirms the same two values. Its accompanying explanation says a city average is used where there are multiple monitoring locations. It also states that the satisfactory category can still involve minor breathing discomfort for sensitive people. The category is an improvement in the index, rather than a statement that pollution has disappeared.

Rainfall and temperatures at local stations

The IMD evening bulletin for October 30 lists 39 mm of rain at Gurgaon AWS in the 24 hours ending at 8:30 am IST, followed by another 2 mm between 8:30 am and 5:30 pm. Those two periods give a combined 41 mm at that station. They should not be presented as a uniform rainfall total for the entire city.

The station's maximum temperature was 20 degrees Celsius, 5.5 degrees lower than the previous day's value. Its minimum was 17.2 degrees. At NorthCap University AWS, the bulletin recorded a maximum of 20.5 degrees and a minimum of 17.8 degrees, with 30.5 mm of morning-period rain and 3 mm in the subsequent daytime period.

The two station records show why rainfall totals can differ even within the Gurugram area. Each number belongs to a particular instrument and observation period. The evening bulletin described light to moderate rain at many places in Haryana, with heavy rain and thunderstorms accompanied by lightning at isolated places in the state.

What the weekend forecast says

IMD's evening forecast marked Haryana and Chandigarh dry from Saturday, October 31, through Thursday, November 5. It listed no weather warning for those dates. That forecast follows Friday's rain and replaces any assumption that the earlier thunderstorm warning continues through the weekend.

The AQI figures in this report are as of October 30 at 4 pm IST, and the weather observations extend to 5:30 pm that day. They are not a live October 31 pollution reading. Further bulletins will determine whether the improvement continues. The forecast does not by itself establish what Gurugram's next daily AQI will be.
