Petrol-Diesel Par Modi Sarkar Ka Bada Faisla: Excise Duty ₹10 Kam, Kya Saste Honge Daam?

The Government of India has announced a major relief measure by reducing excise duty on petrol and diesel by ₹10 per litre, aiming to control fuel prices amid rising global energy concerns.

The decision comes at a time when the ongoing tensions linked to the Iran–Israel–US conflict have disrupted crude oil supply and pushed international oil prices upward.

According to the announcement, the excise duty on petrol has been reduced from ₹13 per litre to ₹3, while diesel excise duty has been reduced from ₹10 per litre to zero. The move is expected to ease the burden on consumers and stabilize domestic fuel prices.

Officials said the government has also secured sufficient crude oil supply for the next 60 days from alternative sources to prevent shortages in the country.

Experts believe the tax reduction could help oil marketing companies manage price fluctuations in the global market and potentially prevent a sharp rise in retail fuel prices.

However, whether petrol and diesel will become cheaper for consumers will depend on how oil companies adjust retail prices in response to international crude oil trends.
