NIT Goa has set out plans for reciprocal week-long youth visits between Goa and Mizoram under Yuva Sangam Phase VII, with a 57-member delegation from Mizoram scheduled to visit Goa from 10 October. A Goa group described as 55 delegates, accompanied by five NIT Goa staff members, was scheduled to leave for Mizoram the same day.
The Ministry of Education published the details on 10 October through the Press Information Bureau. NIT Goa is coordinating the exchange with the Central University of Mizoram.
The official announcement lists heritage visits, Goan food and traditions, interaction with Oil and Natural Gas Corporation representatives and an opportunity to meet the Governor of Goa. These are planned activities, with no confirmation that they have already taken place.
Two-way visits, with institutions coordinating
The Mizoram delegation includes five faculty members and two All India Council for Technical Education representatives, alongside undergraduate students. The release provides neither a day-by-day itinerary nor a college-wise breakdown of the Goa group.
NIT Goa's programme information page describes its role as the nodal institution for the state. Such institutions organise the exchange around the paired state, bringing together academic interaction, institutional visits and contact with local communities. The institute says participation is open to eligible young people beyond those currently enrolled in college. Its page still displays the initial registration period of 4 to 18 August. That older invitation should be read with the central portal's current closed status, rather than as a fresh application window.
The educational idea is to put participants in direct contact with a state outside their own. Campus sessions are one part of that experience. Time spent with host communities, cultural institutions and workplaces is intended to show how people study, work and live in a different regional setting. Those are the programme's stated aims, rather than outcomes already measured for this particular visit.
The national framework names five themes: tourism, traditions, development, people-to-people contact and technology. These themes give the exchange a wider purpose than sightseeing. Institutional and community visits are intended to connect classroom learning with the host state's daily life. Participants should use their coordinators' itinerary for actual venues and timings.
Registration has closed for this phase
The travel announcement does not reopen applications. The official Yuva Sangam portal currently marks Phase VII registration as closed and displays 31 August 2026 as the last registration date. Dalimss News previously covered the extension of that registration deadline. The October visits belong to the subsequent travel stage.
The Ministry's August registration notice covered people aged 18 to 30, including higher-education students, National Service Scheme and Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan volunteers and young professionals. It described educational and cultural tours lasting five to seven days, excluding travel. The earlier Ministry notice placed the tours within Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, which encourages people in different states to learn about each other's communities. This is the wider framework for Phase VII, while the current Goa announcement gives the arrangements for the two specific delegations.
The portal's selection guidelines say the nodal higher-education institution makes the final selection for youth living in its state or Union Territory. The considerations include gender representation, educational background and academic disciplines, alongside participation from rural or remote areas and different sections of society. Registration by itself was therefore not a guarantee of a place on a tour.
Selected delegates are contacted by the nodal officers for further correspondence, according to the guidelines. Participants are expected to follow the group coordinator's instructions and respect the cultural and ethnic sensitivities of the host state. Anyone already selected should rely on that institutional communication for travel arrangements rather than treating a general programme page as a personal booking confirmation.
The Phase VII pairing list also connects Uttar Pradesh's Banaras Hindu University with IIT Palakkad in Kerala. That is a separate pairing, with its own arrangements. For other examples of educational visits between institutions, Dalimss News has reported on Uttarakhand college teachers visiting BHU. The current announcement concerns the Goa and Mizoram groups, whose detailed programme will be managed by their nodal institutions.
