Varanasi: NEET 2026 was conducted across 47 examination centres in the city, with around 25,478 candidates arriving in Varanasi to appear for the medical entrance test.
According to available information, the examination was held as part of the national medical entrance process, with Varanasi emerging as one of the major examination hubs this year. Since early morning, aspirants and their parents gathered outside centres across the city.
The atmosphere outside many centres reflected a familiar mix of hope, pressure and caution. Students waited with admit cards and required documents, while parents remained nearby as the checking and entry process continued through the morning.
Varanasi Emerges as Major NEET Examination Hub
Officials said 47 examination centres were set up across Varanasi to ensure the smooth conduct of NEET 2026. The large number of centres was meant to manage the arrival of candidates and reduce crowding at individual locations.
With around 25,478 candidates reportedly arriving in the city, local arrangements had to account for movement near schools, colleges and other examination venues. Varanasi has seen major examination-related movement in recent years, and this year's NEET arrangements again placed the city in focus for education-related activity.
At several centres, the entry process was organised in stages so that candidates could be checked and guided inside without unnecessary rush. Parents were asked to wait outside designated areas while candidates completed the verification process.

Several students and parents expressed hope as well as anxiety before the examination. For many families, NEET is one of the most important academic milestones, and the day often brings months of preparation, travel planning and emotional pressure together.
Parents at the centres reportedly expected a transparent and fair examination process this time. Many said they were hopeful that authorities would conduct the examination without irregularities and ensure that every candidate received a proper and equal opportunity.
The gathering outside centres remained serious but orderly, according to available information. Candidates focused on last-minute checks of documents and instructions, while parents waited outside after the entry process began.
Strict Security and Monitoring Arrangements in Place
To maintain the integrity of the examination, authorities put extensive security arrangements in place at all centres. Security personnel, verification protocols and monitoring measures were used to support a safe and hassle-free examination environment.
Officials said the arrangements were aimed at preventing irregularities and ensuring that the test was conducted smoothly. Verification at entry points, controlled access and monitoring inside centres were part of the broader effort to protect the examination process.
Authorities also appealed for cooperation from candidates and parents so that crowd movement, entry checks and security procedures could be completed without unnecessary delays. The focus throughout the day remained on conducting the examination fairly, safely and with minimal inconvenience to students.
