MoU Signed Between Kashi Vishwanath Temple Corridor and Mahakaleshwar Temple to Improve Pilgrim Facilities in Varanasi

In a significant development, two BJP-ruled states, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) on Tuesday in Varanasi, the parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The first and most significant MoU was signed between the management of Kashi Vishwanath Temple Corridor and Mahakaleshwar Temple, two temples that house the sacred Jyotirlinga. The agreement aims to improve facilities for devotees and strengthen coordination between the two major pilgrimage centres.
During his visit to the Kashi Vishwanath Temple Corridor, Mohan Yadav said the initiative will help adopt the advanced pilgrim management system of the Varanasi temple at the famous Mahakal Temple in Ujjain. The goal is to make darshan easier, smoother, and more accessible for thousands of devotees visiting the temple every day.
Officials from the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple Trust gave a presentation explaining how the corridor manages large crowds, organizes pilgrim movement, and provides better facilities. These arrangements are expected to help Ujjain prepare for Simhastha scheduled in 2028.
A second MoU was also signed between the two states to strengthen cooperation in the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative and Geographical Indication (GI) certifications. This partnership will promote traditional products, improve branding, and boost exports.
The agreements highlight growing cooperation between the two states in religious tourism, temple management, and economic development, with the experience of the Kashi Vishwanath Temple Corridor playing a key role in improving pilgrim facilities at other major temples.
