MCG Gives 15 Days to Clear DLF Phase 2 Green Belt Encroachment

GURUGRAM: The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram has issued a demolition order giving 15 days to remove alleged illegal construction and restore green-belt land on Gulmohar Marg in DLF City Phase 2, failing which the civic body said it would demolish the structures, seal the building if required, and recover the cost as arrears of tax or revenue.

MCG acted after a site inspection report recorded misuse of green belt land, encroachment and unauthorised construction in the Gulmohar Marg area. The inspection noted installation and operation of a diesel generator set inside or adjoining the green belt, obstruction in the approved green area, and the risk of noise and air pollution from the generator. The corporation also alleged construction without the required change of land use and other approvals, and use of the property for commercial activity including large-scale loading, unloading and logistics work.

The order cites Sections 261(1), 262 and 263-A of the Haryana Municipal Corporation Act, 1994. A show-cause notice numbered 42 had been issued on 13 March 2026. The affected party was given a personal hearing but, according to MCG, failed to produce the permissions linked to an approved building plan. The corporation treated the reply as unsatisfactory and directed restoration of the land to its original condition within 15 days.

If the owner does not comply, MCG said it would carry out demolition itself and may seal the building. Expenses incurred would be recovered from the party as municipal dues. Green-belt and right-of-way encroachments have been a recurring enforcement theme in DLF phases, where residents and commercial users often extend generator rooms, parking and service areas into landscaped strips meant to stay open.

Gulmohar Marg sits in a high-visibility Phase 2 pocket where traffic, logistics movement and residential complaints overlap. Civic notices in such cases typically turn on whether change of land use, building plan and green-area conditions match what exists on site. Here, MCG's record focuses on the generator, the green-belt obstruction and commercial loading activity rather than a street-vendor style encroachment.

The 15-day clock runs from the demolition order. Compliance would mean removal of the offending structures and restoration of the green belt. Non-compliance would shift the matter to MCG's demolition and sealing machinery, with cost recovery through municipal dues. The corporation has not, in the public note, named further properties on the same marg in this specific order, so the immediate action remains property-specific while wider colony enforcement continues under separate drives by town planning and municipal teams.
