Which Victoris costs what extra

An automatic costs Rs 1,56,000 more than the manual at VXI and Rs 1,56,000 more at ZXI. CNG adds Rs 1,05,000 at LXI, Rs 1,05,000 at VXI and Rs 1,05,000 at ZXI. The O suffix is a small step: it adds Rs 7,100 on the ZXI manual and Rs 7,100 on the ZXI automatic.

The strong hybrid starts at Rs 16,42,900, which is Rs 3,02,000 above the VXI petrol automatic. Maruti's data lists 28.65 km/l for every hybrid against 21.06 km/l for the petrol automatic, so a high-mileage driver can estimate how many years the extra money takes to come back.

Engines, mileage and safety

The petrol and CNG Victoris use a 1,462 cc engine, and the strong hybrid uses a 1,490 cc unit with an e-CVT gearbox. Listed fuel efficiency is 21.18 km/l for the petrol manual, 27.02 km/kg for CNG and 19.07 km/l for the all-wheel-drive automatic. These are the figures on Maruti's page, not a road test.

All 21 versions show six airbags and five seats, including the Rs 10,49,900 LXI. The two ZXI+ automatics with ADAS, at Rs 17,33,900 and Rs 17,43,000, are the versions Maruti marks for driver-assistance features. The all-wheel-drive pair costs Rs 1,35,000 more than the ADAS two-wheel-drive ZXI+ automatic.

Victoris against its neighbours

Inside Maruti's range, the Victoris overlaps with the Grand Vitara, whose own price list starts at Rs 10,76,500. Outside it, the Kia Seltos starts at Rs 11,24,900 and the Hyundai Creta at Rs 10,90,700, so the Victoris LXI at Rs 10,49,900 is the cheapest of the four to start.
