Engines and the CNG option
Mahindra lists four powertrains. The 1.2-litre turbo petrol makes 82 kW and 200 Nm. The 1.2-litre TGDi petrol makes 96 kW and 230 Nm. The 1.5-litre turbo diesel makes 86 kW and 300 Nm. The ZNG uses the 1.2-litre turbo petrol with CNG, and Mahindra says it keeps the same 82 kW and 200 Nm in both petrol and CNG modes.
The ZNG has a certified efficiency of 24.7 km per kg, according to Mahindra's launch release, with two CNG cylinders mounted under the floor. It is offered in four versions: MX EDGE at Rs 9,99,000, REVX EDGE(O) at Rs 10,79,000, AX5 at Rs 11,19,000 and REVX A at Rs 12,27,000. Mahindra says all ZNG versions get more than 35 standard safety features, including six airbags, ESC and ISOFIX mounts. Bookings are open at dealers and on Mahindra's website.
How to read this list
Where Mahindra sells the same trim with both fuels, CNG adds Rs 90,000 on the REVX EDGE(O), Rs 99,500 on the REVX A and Rs 1,19,100 on the AX5, each compared with the petrol manual. The MX EDGE CNG has no petrol twin in the list, which makes it the cheapest way into a CNG 3XO by a clear margin. If you drive mostly in the city and have a CNG pump nearby, work out your monthly running cost before choosing. For highway use, the diesel manual starts at Rs 9,36,000 in the MX2.
Ask the dealer for an on-road quote with insurance and registration listed line by line, and check whether the price on your booking is protected until delivery.
