NEW DELHI: KTM's India specification page for the 390 Enduro R lists 200 mm front suspension travel, 205 mm rear travel and an 860 mm saddle. Read those figures as a set when identifying the motorcycle offered to you, because an overseas specification carrying the same Enduro R name can describe different dimensions.
| India specification-page item | Published figure |
|---|---|
| Front suspension travel | 200 mm |
| Rear suspension travel | 205 mm |
| Saddle height | 860 mm |
| Ground clearance | 253 mm |
| Kerb weight | 177 kg |
| Wheel construction | Tube-type spokes |
Identify the specification before comparing motorcycles
The India sheet lists a 398.63 cc engine producing 46 PS at 8,500 rpm and 39 Nm at 6,500 rpm. Its suspension-travel row, seat height and ground clearance belong together. Do not take the seat figure from that sheet and combine it with a longer-travel suspension figure copied from a different market. The resulting motorcycle may exist only in the comparison table.
This is more than a concern about rounding. KTM's official 2026 Russia-market technical sheet lists 230 mm travel at both ends, an 890 mm seat and 272 mm ground clearance. That is an overseas reference, not proof that an Indian dealer's motorcycle has those measurements. The practical question is which exact specification is attached to the offered vehicle and its invoice.
Start by asking for the model year and the specification document used for the quotation. Keep a copy with the offer. If a salesperson describes an international version or a revised configuration, ask for an India document identifying that version rather than assuming that a familiar model name settles the issue. This guide does not claim that every Enduro R supplied in India shares the older sheet's dimensions.
Use the seat and travel figures for different checks
Saddle height describes a static dimension; suspension travel describes available movement. Neither number alone tells a rider how comfortably they will stop, reverse into a parking space or manage a sloping surface. Check reach to the ground in riding boots and ask for help while assessing the stationary motorcycle. Do not change suspension settings merely to imitate a figure seen online.
A dual-sport rider has a particular reason to examine these details together. The motorcycle may need to negotiate broken access roads on the way to a trail, then return to traffic and awkward parking. A specification selected only for obstacle clearance can overlook everyday handling at walking pace. Conversely, seat reach should be checked without treating it as a complete measure of off-road capability.
Our 250 Duke seat-height explainer examines another case where the configuration matters. Its measurements do not apply to the Enduro R, but the same document check is useful: distinguish a standard setup from an optional or differently specified one before comparing the numbers.
Read wheel construction as carefully as diameter
The current India product page describes a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel arrangement with tube-type spoked wheels. That construction detail matters when preparing for a puncture away from a workshop. Ask which tyres and tubes are actually fitted to the delivery motorcycle and check them against its documentation. A spoke wheel should not automatically be called tubeless.
KTM's older booking page and the current product page name different tyre suppliers. That is a reason to verify the delivered fitment, not to publish an invented universal tyre specification. Record the tyre markings when inspecting the bike. For related background, our 250 Adventure wheel guide explains a different wheel pairing without making it interchangeable with the Enduro's arrangement.
Separate electronics from mechanical dimensions
The current India page describes Street and Off-road riding modes and selectable ABS settings, including an ABS-off option. Ask the dealer to demonstrate the relevant menus with the motorcycle stationary and explain the road setting before a test ride. A feature being listed does not establish which selection is currently active, nor does it replace the instructions in the supplied handbook.
For pricing background, our existing 390 Adventure S and Enduro R comparison is a separate report. This specification check does not update that price story. Obtain a dated quotation for the identified version rather than using an equipment article to infer today's final payable amount.
Before delivery, reconcile the model description, dimensional specification, wheel construction and fitted equipment with the paperwork. Any discrepancy should be resolved in writing while the motorcycle is still with the dealer. That is the useful outcome of reading the official figures: a clearly identified vehicle, rather than a collection of attractive numbers drawn from several markets.
