NEW DELHI: iQOO Neo 10's advertised 36-minute charge from 1% to 100% was measured with the screen off, Fast Charging Mode enabled and the official charger and cable. Owners using its bypass-charging feature during a game should expect a different behaviour: iQOO says the charger prioritises powering the phone and slows battery charging.

Choose whether the next session is for charging or gaming

A useful starting question is whether you need more battery before leaving home or want to keep playing while connected. Those are different jobs. If the intention is to check the advertised charging time, put the game aside and compare your setup with the published test. If the intention is a plugged-in game session, battery percentage alone is an incomplete way to judge the bypass feature.

The lab test began at the stated low battery level, with services and functions switched off apart from voice calls. A bright display, a running game and a phone already warmed by use do not reproduce that setup. iQOO names charging conditions, initial temperature and battery wear among reasons results can differ. A longer session at the socket does not, by itself, establish a defect.

Understand what bypass charging promises

iQOO describes enabling Bypass Charging in a game scenario. It says this gives direct phone power priority and greatly slows charging of the battery, with the aim of reducing charging heat during play. Its wording leaves room for battery charging to continue. It does not promise that the percentage will remain frozen throughout every game.

The product page does not publish a complete menu-by-menu setup path or a universal starting battery threshold. Check the controls available on your own software version rather than following an unsupported threshold from a different model. Treat any suggested routine here as a way to organise your checks, not as a substitute for an on-device instruction.

For a repeatable observation, note the battery reading before and after a familiar game, whether bypass was enabled and which charger was attached. Change one condition at a time. Otherwise, a difference caused by a different game workload can be mistaken for a charging-setting effect. A simple written record is more useful than comparing isolated screenshots from unrelated sessions.

The hardware makes the distinction relevant

Neo 10 combines a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 with a 6.78-inch AMOLED display whose specified resolution is 2800 x 1260. This is a phone where the same wall connection may be used both for a quick refill and for a sustained game session. The display being active is central to that second use case, whereas it was switched off for the charging-time test.

Its published body figures are 8.09mm and 206g. Those dimensions help identify the model when checking an accessory listing or a support page, but they tell you nothing about the charging protocol supported by a spare adapter. Keep the exact model name and charger identity together when recording a problem, especially if the charger has been changed.

Keep the laptop-charger claim separate

The up-to-100W PD/PPS statement concerns using the included charger and cable with a compatible device, such as a laptop or another phone. iQOO warns that some non-standard PD implementations may not support fast charging. That figure is not a claim that the Neo 10 battery supplies laptop power at that rate, or that every USB-C charger reproduces FlashCharge.
