Why a cracked screen can fall into different categories
Apple's India terms specifically include the M5 versions of both the 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Pro in the screen-only category. The document also distinguishes screen damage from additional damage that prevents a screen replacement, including a bent or dented enclosure. Such additional damage moves a covered claim into the other accidental damage category.
That distinction is useful when a tablet falls from a desk or bag. A photograph of the shattered glass alone cannot establish the service category. Ask for the assessment to describe the screen and enclosure separately, and retain the quotation with the claim paperwork. The published lower fee does not itself confirm that a particular damaged tablet qualifies.
Check the plan attached to your tablet
Begin with the plan confirmation and receipt. Apple's terms page organises documents by plan purchase date, so use the version that applies to your own agreement. The latest listed document is for plans bought since 13 October 2026. Existing owners should not assume that buying the same iPad model means everyone has the same contract.
Apple's general fee page supplies the headline amounts, while the dated agreement supplies the eligibility wording. Prepare the iPad before the appointment
Apple's service guide asks owners to back up the device and confirm that their iCloud content has finished syncing. Complete as much preparation as the damaged screen allows. A repair visit should not become the first occasion on which you discover that an important drawing, document or class notebook exists only on the tablet. This matters if the tablet also carries your working portfolio.
The Find My preparation now depends on software. On iPadOS 27 or later, Apple's instructions use Ready for Repair or Trade-In. On iPadOS 26 or earlier, they direct the owner to turn off Find My. Follow the current official guide for the installed version and the service arrangement, rather than relying on an older checklist.
Bring the relevant device, any accessory needing attention, the receipt if available and identification. Apple says not to share account passwords or device passcodes with another person. If software assistance requires you to enter credentials, remain present while the technician has access.
