IMD Issues Yellow Alert for Rain, Thunderstorms and Gusty Winds in Gurugram

GURUGRAM: A yellow weather alert has been issued for Gurugram, Delhi and Noida, with intermittent showers, thunderstorms and gusty winds expected across the region. The forecast indicated the possibility of stronger activity from around July 28.
A yellow alert is an advisory to stay aware and monitor changing conditions. It does not mean that severe weather will occur at every location or throughout the alert period. Rain and wind can vary sharply across Delhi-NCR, and a neighbourhood may experience an intense spell while another receives only light showers.
The forecast should be treated as a probability rather than a confirmed description of future conditions. Updated bulletins may change the timing, area or expected intensity as weather systems develop. Residents should check the latest official forecast before starting a long journey or planning outdoor work.
For Gurugram commuters, even a short heavy spell can slow traffic at underpasses, junctions and stretches with limited drainage. Drivers should reduce speed in poor visibility, maintain distance and avoid entering accumulated water when its depth is unclear. Two-wheeler riders are particularly exposed to hidden potholes and sudden crosswinds.
Thunderstorms also create a risk from lightning and falling branches or loose objects. People outdoors should move to a safe building when thunder is heard and avoid taking shelter beneath isolated trees. Construction sites and properties with unsecured sheets, hoardings or material should review their precautions before gusty conditions.
Civic and traffic agencies can use the alert period to inspect pumps, clear drain inlets and prepare diversions at known trouble points. Response teams should remain ready, but the advisory should not be portrayed as proof that flooding or damage has already occurred.
The alert remains forecast-based. Gurugram residents should follow current official updates, plan for possible delays and distinguish between expected weather and conditions actually observed on the ground.
