How to check IGNOU grade card status online
The official IGNOU Results page provides two distinct links: Term End Exam/Re-evaluation Results and Grade Card. Choose Grade Card when you want the grade card service. The portal reached from that link was checked on 31 October 2026; this guide does not announce a new result release or a university wide completion date.
- Open the official Results page and select Grade Card.
- On the IGNOU grade card portal, use the field labelled Grade Card Status for.
- Select the appropriate programme code in the next field.
- Enter your enrolment number exactly as shown in your university records.
- Submit the form, then check that the returned identity and programme details match your own record before reading the course entries.
Keep your admission or registration document beside you when filling the form. A programme's full name and its code are different things, so use the code rather than guessing from an abbreviation. If you have studied more than one programme, confirm which enrolment and programme combination you are checking. This avoids treating a record from the wrong course as a missing result.
IGNOU grade card versus term end result
The university keeps the two services separate on its Results page. Finding an examination mark in the term end service does not, by itself, establish that every prescribed component of a programme has been updated in the grade card. The official grade card information page says the final grade card is issued after programme completion and the updating of all prescribed components.
That distinction matters when a student is checking whether the whole programme is complete. Read each relevant course entry alongside the requirements in your own programme guide. Avoid using a passing rule from a different IGNOU course: this article has not established one common set of assignment weights, practical requirements or pass marks for every programme.
For example, an examination entry and an assignment entry answer different questions. If your concern is a missing assignment component, repeatedly searching a term end examination result may not tell you whether the assignment marks have been transmitted. First identify the missing component, then use the university service intended for that component.
Assignment marks not showing: check transmission status
IGNOU provides an Assignment/Project/Practical Awards/Marks Transmission Status page. Its form requests an enrolment number and programme code. The page explicitly says status is reflected only when study centres or regional centres transmit marks or grades after evaluation. A submission receipt and a transmitted award are therefore different records to keep track of.
Save your assignment submission acknowledgement and record the course code whose entry is missing. Compare that information with the transmission page and the grade card. If you need clarification, a precise question about one course and one component is more useful than a general statement that the result is wrong. This guide cannot confirm a processing deadline for an individual student's record.
Can you use the online grade card as a final marksheet?
IGNOU's information page says the online status cannot substitute for the final grade card and that the electronically generated information has no legal validity. If an employer, institution or application asks for a final document, check exactly which university document it requires. A printout of an online status page should not be presented as a newly issued final credential.
