Iconic South Indian Eatery 'Shri Naivedyam' Demolished in Varanasi; Relocates to Lanka

VARANASI, INDIA — The cityscape along the busy Sigra–Mahmoorganj stretch marked the end of a cherished chapter as Shri Naivedyam, one of Varanasi’s most iconic South Indian restaurants, was demolished. The multi-storey, heritage-style structure standing opposite the historic Sri Runmukteshwar Mandir has been completely taken down, leaving behind only its distinctive wrought-iron entry gate and surrounding patch of greenery.

For over two decades, the pure-vegetarian restaurant served as a beloved culinary landmark in Kashi, drawing thousands of loyal patrons, families, and university students for its authentic South Indian delicacies, Chinese comfort food, and North Indian platters.
