High Security Alert Issued Ahead of Republic Day 2026, Agencies Warn of Possible Terror Threat
Varanasi / Lucknow: Security agencies across the country have been placed on high alert ahead of Republic Day 2026 following fresh intelligence inputs indicating a possible terror threat aimed at disrupting national celebrations.
According to the inputs, terror groups are allegedly planning coordinated, high-impact attacks in multiple regions of India with the intention of creating panic and disturbing Republic Day events. The intelligence assessment suggests that the conspiracy involves targeting key locations in Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir, and other sensitive areas, while religious and high-footfall locations are also believed to be on the radar.
The alert mentions that the operation, reportedly code-named “26-26”, is aimed at executing attacks around January 26, coinciding with Republic Day celebrations. Security agencies have been advised to strengthen surveillance, enhance monitoring, and ensure strict implementation of safety protocols across airports, railway stations, public places, government buildings, and major event venues.
In view of the potential threat, all concerned departments and stakeholders have been directed to maintain heightened vigilance, increase patrolling, and conduct thorough checks. Security arrangements at sensitive installations have been reviewed, and additional forces have been deployed in critical zones.
Authorities have also emphasized the importance of inter-agency coordination, real-time intelligence sharing, and rapid response mechanisms to prevent any untoward incident. Emergency response teams and disaster management units have been placed on standby to ensure quick action if required.
Security agencies have appealed to the public to remain alert, avoid spreading rumours, and immediately report any suspicious activity to local authorities. Citizens have also been advised to cooperate with security checks and follow safety instructions during Republic Day events.
