GURUGRAM: The district administration announced on Saturday, October 31, 2026, that its Haryana Day diamond jubilee programme will begin at 10 am IST on Sunday, November 1, at Swatantrata Senani Zila Parishad Sabhagar, also known as John Hall, in Civil Lines. Residents have been invited to attend a programme combining a documentary with traditional Haryanvi performances.

The announcement places the district celebration at a specific indoor venue rather than across multiple sites. Deputy Commissioner Uttam Singh is overseeing the arrangements, while Badshahpur Subdivisional Magistrate Sanjeev Kumar Singla is the nodal officer for the district programme.

Documentary and folk performances on the programme

A film tracing Haryana's cinematic journey is among the scheduled presentations. Ragni, folk songs and traditional Haryanvi dances will also feature, according to the official district announcement, posted at 6 pm IST on October 31. Singla said the programme would present the state's cultural traditions, history and development journey to the public.

  • Date: Sunday, November 1, 2026.
  • Start: 10 am IST.
  • Venue: John Hall, Civil Lines, Gurugram.
  • Organiser: Gurugram district administration.
  • Programme: Haryana cinema documentary, ragni, folk songs and traditional dance.

The notice invites public participation but does not specify an ending time, an admission charge or a registration process. It also does not announce a parking arrangement or traffic diversion. Visitors should use the confirmed venue and start time when planning their visit and check the official announcement for any subsequent changes.

Sixty years of Haryana, and Gurugram's place in it

The government is marking 60 years of Haryana's formation on November 1. The district administration's history page records that Gurgaon was part of Punjab after Independence in 1947 and came under Haryana's administration when the new state was created in 1966. That administrative change connects Sunday's state anniversary directly with the city's own history.

The same history page traces earlier changes in the district's administration, including its transfer from the North Western Provinces to Punjab after the 1857 revolt. It records an 1861 arrangement of five tehsils: Gurgaon, Ferozepur Jhirka, Nuh, Palwal and Rewari. These are historical details, rather than a description of the district's present boundaries.

A weekend of district public programmes

Sunday's programme follows a separate National Unity Day gathering on Saturday, October 31. An official account of that event says a Run for Unity started from Nehru Stadium, with Haryana Industries and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh flagging off the participants. Those present took a pledge on national unity and social harmony.

The Saturday gathering also carried a civic message for the approaching festive period. The minister urged residents to choose cloth or jute shopping bags over polythene and to keep celebrations clean. The district account lists participation by police, sports and education department personnel and civil defence volunteers.
