Eyewitness Speaks Out on UP College Shooting: Student Alleges Security Lapse After Death of Surya Pratap Singh

A shocking eyewitness account has surfaced in connection with the UP College Shooting, where a student was fatally shot inside the campus of Udai Pratap Autonomous College in Varanasi.
The eyewitness, Shivangi Singh, who was present at the scene, described the terrifying moments when the attack took place and raised serious concerns over the college’s security arrangements.
According to Shivangi, she had arrived at the college as usual and had just left her bag in the library. She was standing near the staircase when she saw Surya Pratap Singh talking with a friend nearby. Within moments, the accused allegedly arrived and opened fire without any warning.
She said the first gunshot was fired so suddenly that Surya had no time to react. The entire incident unfolded within seconds, creating panic across the campus. Shivangi questioned how the attacker managed to enter the college premises carrying a weapon, suggesting that the gun may have been hidden and brought inside without detection.
“Had the weapon been visible earlier, he might have had a chance to run,” she reportedly said, pointing to what she believes was a major lapse in campus security.
Despite the chaos, Shivangi said she initially believed the victim had been shot in the chest and could still be saved. She tried to help him, but the situation turned more tragic when the attacker allegedly returned and fired another shot, which proved fatal.
She further expressed regret that more people did not intervene during the attack. According to her, only one teacher attempted to step forward while others stayed back. Shivangi also alleged that there was a delay in providing immediate assistance after the shooting and claimed that the college administration did not respond quickly enough in the critical moments.
The incident has sparked widespread concern about safety measures inside educational institutions, with students and locals demanding stricter security checks and accountability. Authorities are currently investigating the case to determine how the attacker entered the campus with a firearm and whether any security lapses occurred.
