House Owner Allegedly Manhandles DTP in Sushant Lok Demolition

GURUGRAM: A house owner allegedly pushed and manhandled a District Town Planner and threatened him with death during a demolition drive in Sushant Lok Phase 1, after which police restored order and the team continued removing illegal constructions under Supreme Court-linked enforcement in licensed colonies, officials said.

The drive is being carried out by the Department of Town and Country Planning against illegal constructions and commercial activity that violate sanctioned plans in licensed colonies. According to information shared publicly on 12 September, the house owner created a ruckus when the DTP and his team reached the spot to demolish unauthorised work. The official was allegedly threatened with death in public view. Police personnel present intervened, controlled the situation and allowed the demolition to proceed despite protests at the site.

DTCP officials said strict legal action, including registration of FIRs, is being taken against those who obstruct government work or threaten officials. The department maintained that illegal construction would not be tolerated and that the demolition drive would continue in the coming days. The Sushant Lok Phase 1 action forms part of a wider Supreme Court-directed push on violations inside licensed colonies rather than a one-off municipal sealing list from another agency.

Licensed colonies in Gurugram have seen repeated cycles of notices, sealing and demolition when floors, commercial conversions or extensions appear beyond approved plans. Enforcement teams often work with local police because owners and occupants resist when heavy machinery arrives.
