NEW DELHI: Dreame D9 Max is advertised with suction up to 4,000Pa, four suction levels and LiDAR mapping on the company's India page. Those features describe different parts of its cleaning system. To understand what the model can do in an Indian home, read the suction claim alongside its mapping, mop controls and the preparation steps in Dreame's D9 Max manual.

Read the suction claim with the cleaning mode
The India page says the D9 Max increases suction when it detects carpet. It also describes a floating main brush and a design intended to reduce hair tangles. These are manufacturer claims about how the machine approaches pickup; they do not establish a measured cleaning result for every rug, room or type of household debris.
A useful demonstration would therefore include the actual surfaces the robot will cross, rather than only an open patch of floor. Ask which setting is active and whether the machine changes behaviour at a rug. Without that context, a successful short demonstration cannot show how the same machine will behave across the entire home.
The battery figure in the table is a capacity rating. This article does not convert it into a promised cleaning duration. A household trying to understand coverage should consider its room arrangement, selected settings and interrupted routes instead of assuming the battery label itself answers how long a complete cleaning task will take.
Mapping still needs a prepared route
Dreame describes laser scanning that creates an editable floor map. Its manual separately tells users to clear loose items, including cables, slippers and toys, open the doors of rooms to be cleaned and accompany the robot during its first operation. The manual also calls for a physical barrier at stair edges.
That is a significant distinction for a flat with movable drying racks, chairs around the dining table or a frequently closed bedroom. The map is a representation of the accessible layout during use. A sensible first run should reveal whether the normal furniture arrangement leaves the rooms and passages available, before the family treats a scheduled clean as an established routine.
The dock needs its own place
The D9 Max manual specifies a level position against a wall, with 1.5 metres clear in front of the charging dock and 0.5 metres on each side. It also says to keep the robot and dock within Wi-Fi range and avoid moving the dock during cleaning. Check the manual supplied with the exact unit before setup.
That space requirement can be more consequential than the robot's appearance in a product photograph. In a narrow passage, identify where the dock can remain plugged in without becoming part of the walking route. The practical question is whether it can stay in that position during ordinary household use, including when furniture is moved for visitors or cleaning.
Mopping adds another task to manage
The India listing describes a reusable microfiber pad and app-adjustable water delivery. Its package list includes a water tank, mop pad and charging dock. It does not establish that the included dock washes the pad or empties collected dust automatically, so those functions should not be assumed from the presence of a base station.
For a home with a mix of rugs and hard flooring, ask for the supplied mopping instructions to be explained before setting up a routine. The India page has conflicting tank-volume labels between a feature tile and its detailed specifications. This report excludes those volume figures rather than turning an inconsistent listing into a refill-frequency promise.
