Dhanashree Verma Offers Prayers at Kashi Vishwanath Temple During Varanasi Visit

Varanasi: Dancer and choreographer Dhanashree Verma visited Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi on Sunday, August 2, and offered prayers during the opening days of the holy month of Shravan.

Verma shared photographs from her visit on social media, giving followers a glimpse of her time at the temple. Dressed in a simple brown ethnic outfit, she was seen wearing prayer beads and a prominent saffron tilak while standing outside the temple’s intricately carved entrance.

In her accompanying message, Verma said she had waited for the moment for a long time and felt that Mahadev had finally called her to Kashi. She described the experience as one of faith, gratitude and divine blessings, concluding her note with “Har Har Mahadev.”

Her visit came a day before the first Monday of Shravan, traditionally one of the busiest and most significant days for Shiva devotees in Varanasi. The first Shravan Monday of 2026 fell on August 3, with devotees and Kanwariyas arriving at the Kashi Vishwanath Dham to offer prayers and sacred water to Lord Shiva.

Photographs and videos from Verma’s visit soon began circulating across entertainment and local news pages. In the images, she appeared relaxed and visibly moved by the experience as she posed near the temple entrance and walked through the surrounding area.

Verma is a performer, choreographer and digital creator with a large social-media following. She initially trained and worked as a dentist before becoming widely known through her dance videos, stage performances and appearances on television.

Her visit has once again highlighted Varanasi’s growing popularity among actors, sportspersons and other public figures seeking a quieter spiritual break from their professional lives. During Shravan, the city attracts particularly large numbers of pilgrims, with Kashi Vishwanath Temple remaining at the centre of the month-long religious observances.
