Dalmandi Road Widening Project Nears Completion in Varanasi

VARANASI, INDIA — In a major step toward transforming urban mobility near the core temple district of Kashi, the ambitious Dalmandi Road Widening Project is nearing physical completion. Local administrative authorities have confirmed that only seven remaining structures are left to be removed along the stretch, paving the way for immediate road construction work.

Active debris removal and land clearing operations are currently underway in full swing. The Public Works Department (PWD) is slated to commence civil road construction by the end of this month, marking a pivotal breakthrough in easing chronic traffic congestion in one of Varanasi's busiest commercial hubs.

The Dalmandi market corridor, situated close to the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple, has historically been one of the city's most congested and densely packed commercial lanes. The widening initiative brings several critical improvements to the area:

• Debris Clearance & Site Preparation: Heavy machinery and municipal teams are actively clearing rubble from cleared properties to ensure a smooth transition for the PWD engineering teams.

• Final Demolitions in Progress: Administrative teams are coordinating with property owners of the remaining seven structures to wrap up acquisition protocols and clear the full right-of-way.

• PWD Construction Timeline: Physical road laying, underground utility ducting, and drainage layout work by the PWD are set to begin by the end of the current month.
