Chief Minister Janata Seva–cum–Subsidized Bus Service Launched.

Varanasi: The Uttar Pradesh government has launched the Chief Minister Janata Seva–cum–Subsidized Bus Service to improve public transport facilities in Varanasi and Ghazipur. The service has started operating from seven major routes in both districts with the aim of providing affordable and convenient travel, especially for rural and semi-urban areas.
Under this scheme, buses are being operated on identified routes to strengthen connectivity and reduce the burden of high travel costs on passengers. Officials said the initiative is part of the state government’s broader plan to enhance last-mile connectivity and ensure better access to public transport.
Meanwhile, preparations are underway to introduce electric buses on remaining routes in the coming days. Once operational, these e-buses are expected to further improve commuting facilities and help reduce pollution. With the expansion of services, the issue of illegal and unregulated transport is also expected to be curbed.
In another development, a mobile passport van service was inaugurated in Chiraigaon. Cabinet Minister Anil Rajbhar launched the service, under which a three-day camp is being organized to provide passport-related services near people’s homes. On the first day, documents of 50 applicants were verified. After verification, passports will be delivered to applicants through post.
The minister said the initiative will especially benefit youth aspiring to go abroad for employment, as they will no longer have to travel long distances or face difficulties in completing passport formalities.
Additionally, six e-bus services are expected to start soon between Ayodhya and Kashi, further strengthening road connectivity between the two religious cities. Officials indicated that the service is likely to begin from January 24.
The new transport initiatives have been welcomed by locals, who see them as a step towards better, affordable, and accessible public service.
