Asaram Bapu visited the revered Kashi Vishwanath Temple on Sunday evening during his ongoing stay in Varanasi. The visit took place around 8:30 p.m., when he arrived at the temple complex and entered through Gate No. 4, which is commonly used for regulated or special entries.

According to officials and eyewitnesses, he reached the temple premises in a vehicle and later used a wheelchair to move inside the complex. Several police personnel were deployed in and around the area to manage security and regulate crowd movement as devotees gathered outside after learning about his arrival.

Temple authorities and police officials stated that no official VIP protocol was issued for the visit. Security deployment at the temple complex is routine, particularly during periods of heavy footfall, to ensure smooth crowd management and safety for all visitors.

Officials also clarified that he did not receive “sparsh darshan”, which allows direct access to the sanctum. Instead, he offered prayers from outside the sanctum area, similar to many other devotees visiting the temple.

Asaram Bapu is currently out on interim bail granted on medical grounds. During his stay in the city, he has been residing at the Anoura Ashram located in the Harahua area. Religious discourses have been organized at the ashram, drawing followers from eastern Uttar Pradesh and neighboring states.

The temple visit has also sparked discussions on social media, with users debating the security arrangements and entry route used during the visit.

In 2018, a court in Jodhpur convicted Asaram Bapu in a case involving the sexual assault of a minor girl and sentenced him to life imprisonment. His current release from prison is temporary and subject to the conditions of the interim bail granted by the court.
