Varanasi: Raising serious concerns over illegal encroachment and alleged cases of animal cruelty on the Ganga Us land, a group of advocates submitted a memorandum to the Commissioner of Police (CP) on [day/date]. According to the advocates, the Ganga Us area, which is associated with religious and environmental significance, has reportedly witnessed unauthorized occupation by private individuals. Along with this, instances of animals being kept in inhumane conditions were also highlighted in the memorandum, prompting calls for urgent intervention.

The advocates urged the police administration to conduct a thorough investigation, remove illegal encroachments, and ensure compliance with animal welfare laws. They also emphasized that failure to act could lead to further environmental degradation and continued suffering of animals.

The Commissioner of Police assured that the matter would be examined and appropriate action would be taken as per law.
