WBMCC opens Round-3 candidature reset for missed private-seat deposits

The West Bengal Medical Counselling Committee has opened a one-time candidature-initialization facility for candidates who remained non-allotted through Round 2 of WB NEET UG Medical Dental Counseling 2026 and who could not pay the private-college security deposit needed to fill choices. Memo No. HFW-23099/320/2026/M/2244, dated 09.09.2026, from the Directorate of Medical Education, Swasthya Bhavan, Kolkata, says such candidates may email a request for initialization so they can re-register and pay registration fee and security deposit afresh from Round 3 onwards.

The eligible group is narrow. It covers candidates who stayed non-allotted till Round 2 and who could not pay Rs 2,00,000 or Rs 5,00,000, as applicable, for filling choices in Private Medical and Dental Colleges State Quota and/or Management Quota seats. Those candidates who now wish to fill choices in those private State Quota and/or Management Quota categories may send a request mail only from the registered email id recorded in the NEET data.

This file is a Round-3 deposit-reset and re-registration facility. It is not a fresh opening of Round-2 registration for the entire candidate pool, and it does not reopen seat surrender after Round-3 allotment. Keep the email window of 16-18 September separate from any earlier Round-2 registration-open story.

Email window, amounts, and what initialization unlocks

Interested candidates must write to westbengalcounselingcell@gmail.com from 10 am on 16.09.2026 till 12 midnight on 18.09.2026 only. The memo stresses that the mail must come from the registered mail id mentioned in the NEET data. After initialization, those candidates become eligible to re-register their candidature details and to pay registration fee and security deposit money afresh, only from Round 3 onwards.

The security-deposit figures printed on the memo are Rs 2,00,000 for Private College State Quota seats and Rs 5,00,000 for Management Quota seats, as applicable to the choice categories the candidate wants to fill. Candidates who had already paid the Rs 2,00,000 security deposit for Private College State Quota seats only will get that earlier security deposit back only after completion of the whole counselling process. The registration fee paid earlier would be forfeited for all such candidates, according to the memo.

The facility is described as available only in this Round-2 context as a one-time measure without any precedence. Candidates should not assume a repeat email window in later rounds. The Directorate of Medical Education and Chairman of WBMCC signed the notice in the public interest after representations from stakeholders.

Round-3 admission is mandatory once allotted

The memo adds a hard Round-3 rule. From Round 3 onwards, after allotment in any Medical or Dental College, admission is a mandatory process because no seat surrender is allowed from Round 3 onwards. Candidates who use the reset to re-enter private-seat choice filling must be ready to join if allotted. Treating Round 3 as a free exploratory allotment is not what WBMCC permits under this notice.

Candidates are also instructed to contact the concerned private college authorities regarding the mode of fees payment. WBMCC shall not be held responsible for private-college fees-related issues. That splits counselling security-deposit and registration steps, which sit with WBMCC, from college fee payment logistics, which sit with the allotted private college.

Practical checklist for a covered candidate: confirm non-allotted status through Round 2, confirm that the private State Quota or Management Quota deposit was the blocker, send the initialization request only from the NEET-registered email to westbengalcounselingcell@gmail.com inside the 16.09.2026 10 am to 18.09.2026 midnight window, complete fresh Round-3 registration and deposits after initialization, and be prepared for mandatory admission if allotted.
