Vishwakarma Jayanti Marked Across Varanasi Factories, Temples and BLW Shops

Artisans, workshop owners and railway shop floors across Varanasi marked Vishwakarma Jayanti on Thursday, 17 September 2026, with tool and machine worship from Ramnagar to Banaras Locomotive Works. Industrial belts at Ramnagar, Chandpur Industrial Estate, Karkhiyaon and Lohamandi saw machines cleaned and decorated with flowers, flags and lights. At several places, golden tools were used in symbolic puja. Showrooms along Manduadih–Lahartara and Shivpur–Karkhiyaon, and automobile workshops at Ghausabad and Chowkaghat–Alaipura, followed the same day-of pattern.

At Namo Ghat, the ancient Panchmukhi Shri Vishwakarma Temple trust held special puja. State Minister and trust patron Hansraj Vishwakarma was present; trust chair Mahant Nandlal Das welcomed guests. Parallel observances were reported at Vishwanathganj and Rajatabagh temples. On the Banaras Locomotive Works Bareka campus, General Manager Ashutosh Pant joined shop-floor pujas. Shops listed in the campus programme included New Block, CTS, Tool Room, Engine Division, Loco Frame, Pipe, Loco Assembly, Traction Assembly, Track Machine, Loco Test and Depot. Festival crowds on the campus marked the day alongside the shop visits. NER Varanasi Divisional Railway Manager Ashish Jain worshipped at the Banaras coaching depot and other units and held a staff dialogue.

In Chandamari’s Sukhmay Vihar colony, organisers under the Yogi Akhada UP and electrical contractors’ committee ran a Vedic havan and a late-night bhandara. Rural pockets in the Baragaon belt — including the Kudi power sub-station, Anei, Sato Mahua and Basni Jal Nigam sites — also observed the day. Across these sites, the common act was the same: tools and machines treated as the day’s focus, not a political stage.

Vishwakarma Jayanti sits on the city’s manufacturing and repair calendar every year. What mattered on 17 September was the breadth of day-of observance — factory floors, temple trusts, BLW shops and rural electrical sites — rather than any single preview event. Ramnagar’s industrial stretch and Lohamandi’s workshops rarely share a news frame with Namo Ghat’s temple trust; on this Thursday they did, because the calendar aligned them.

Automobile workshops at Ghausabad and Chowkaghat–Alaipura closing early for machine puja is a familiar September pattern in the city’s repair belt. Showrooms on the Manduadih–Lahartara and Shivpur–Karkhiyaon stretches did the same with display floors and tools. Chandamari’s late-night bhandara and the Baragaon rural observances extend the day beyond factory gates into colony and village sites, which is why a single Thursday list runs from BLW Bareka to Kudi sub-station.

Workshop hands who washed machines before dawn, BLW staff who lined shop floors under the GM’s visit, and devotees at Panchmukhi temple all marked the same date in different registers. For the city, the stamp is straightforward: tools worshipped, temples open, railway campuses marked the day, and the record stays with Thursday’s acts alone.
