The allegations relate to Chhedi Vishwakarma, a resident of Bachchhav Paschhim Pura under the Rohania police station area. In his complaint, he alleged that his neighbours Pooja Devi and her husband Vinod took his wife, Rinki Devi, to Kanpur in March 2026 on the pretext of darshan-pujan.

Woman Allegedly Taken to Kanpur on Pretext of Darshan

According to the complaint, Vinod returned home after about 15 days, but Rinki Devi and Pooja Devi did not return. Chhedi Vishwakarma then allegedly asked Vinod about his wife’s whereabouts.

The complaint states that when Chhedi questioned him, Vinod allegedly assaulted him and claimed that Rinki Devi had been sold for ₹2 lakh. These are allegations made in the complaint, and the police investigation is ongoing.

The case has raised serious human trafficking allegations, but officials have not publicly announced any conclusion in the matter so far.

Husband Claims He Received Distress Call

Chhedi Vishwakarma has also reportedly stated that he received a phone call from his wife on April 3, 2026. According to the complaint, Rinki Devi expressed fear for her life and pleaded for help during the call.

The complainant further alleged that he later received another phone call from an unidentified person, who reportedly claimed to have purchased Rinki Devi for ₹2 lakh.

At this stage, these claims remain part of the complainant’s account. There has been no confirmed public update on Rinki Devi’s present location in the latest available information.

FIR Registered, Investigation Underway

Rohania police have registered an FIR and started an investigation into the allegations, including the alleged sale of the woman and related offences. The report is based on details mentioned in the complainant’s court-ordered FIR.
