The Selection Committee, Directorate of Medical Education and Research, Chennai-10, is running Round 2 online counselling for MBBS and BDS degree courses with choice filling and locking open through 13 September 2026 at 02:00 P.M. The six-page tentative Round-II schedule for the 92.5 per cent stream covers Tamil Nadu Government medical and dental colleges, ESIC Medical College, K.K. Nagar, Chennai, Government and Management Quota including NRI seats in self-financing medical colleges (including Christian Medical College, Vellore) and dental colleges, State Private Universities, and wards of IRT candidates. The Word title embedded in that local PDF is 2. MBBS_COUNSELLING SCHEDULE_2ND PHASE (1).docx. CreationDate is Sun Sep 6 14:21:54 2026 UTC, which is 19:51 IST. The portal news path is 06092026073135.pdf.

A companion four-page schedule covers the 7.5 per cent seat reservation for Tamil Nadu Government school students only. That file's Word title is 2. 2ND PHASE - 7.5%.docx. CreationDate is Sun Sep 6 14:25:53 2026 UTC, which is 19:55 IST. The portal news path is 06092026073339.pdf. Both files are marked 2026-2027 SESSION and RE-ALLOTMENT/ ALLOTMENT. Both keep the same choice-filling close, the same allotment-processing day, and the same result day.

This pair is the Round 2 calendar. It is not Notification No.027/SCS1(1)/2026 dated 09.09.2026, which folded newly approved MBBS seats at Madha, Arunai and APS Medical College into the already-open window. Seat additions ride on that later urgent notice. The 06.09 files answer when registration ran, when choices lock, when virtual vacancies are processed, and when the Round 2 result is published.

The Round 2 calendar from registration to joining

On the 92.5 per cent schedule, registration and payment (if not already paid) ran from 07-09-2026 10:00 A.M. to 08-09-2026 05:00 P.M. The Government Quota rank band printed for that row is GR 001 to GR 35926, with NEET marks 705 to 177. The Management Quota rank band is GR 001 to GR 26956, with NEET marks 693 to 177. Choice filling and locking run from 09-09-2026 02:00 P.M. to 13-09-2026 02:00 P.M. Processing of virtual vacancies is listed on 09-09-2026. Processing of seat allotment is on 14-09-2026. Publication of result is on 15-09-2026. Downloading the provisional allotment order runs from 15-09-2026 to 18-09-2026 03:00 P.M. The last date of joining is 18-09-2026 05:00 P.M.

The 7.5 per cent companion uses the same registration window, the same choice window, and the same result and joining stamps. Its printed rank band is GR 001 to GR 3625, with NEET marks 599 to 177. That file also states that no processing fee, security deposit or tuition fee is applicable for the 7.5 per cent special reservation for Tamil Nadu Government school students. Candidates on that reserved list should not copy the 92.5 per cent fee-download instructions onto their own reporting steps.

Choice locking will be enabled only after 12-09-2026 10.00 A.M., since All India Quota results are likely to be declared on 11-09-2026. If the candidate does not lock choices till the last date, 13.09.2026 at 02.00 PM, their choices will be automatically locked. Those two sentences sit on page 4 of the 92.5 per cent file and page 3-4 of the 7.5 per cent file. On 12 September before 10.00 A.M., a candidate can still edit. After locking, the list cannot be changed later.

Who must fill choices and what an upgrade costs

Candidates who registered for Round 1 and were not allotted a seat need not register again. Candidates who were allotted but did not join in Round 1 also need not register again. Candidates who joined and opted for upgradation in the college portal during admission need not register again; those seats are shown as virtual vacancies. Candidates who joined and marked NO for upgradation, but now want an upgrade, must log in during the registration window to confirm Round 2 participation so that their seats enter the virtual-vacancy pool. Fresh registration in Round 2 is permitted only for candidates who never registered in Round 1, have already applied to the Tamil Nadu Medical Selection Committee, and are on the published merit list, with payment of the registration fee.

If a candidate opts for and is upgraded in Round 2, that candidate has to relinquish the Round 1 seat and join the Round 2 allotted seat, with no rights over the Round 1 seat. Freshly allotted Round 2 candidates who do not report can participate in further rounds without forfeiture (free exit). Candidates getting upgraded in Round 2 shall not have any claim on the Round 1 seat even if they do not report to the Round 2 seat. Virtual vacancies become real vacancies only if the Round 1 allottee actually vacates or upgrades. Admission is by online counselling on rank with the rule of reservation. The Committee does not take responsibility for connectivity error and procedural error.

For the 92.5 per cent stream, freshly allotted MBBS candidates in all colleges under all categories, and BDS candidates in Government dental colleges, have to pay the tuition fee online to download the provisional allotment order, with an income-linked exemption for SC/SCA/ST/SCC candidates whose parental income is less than Rs 2.5 lakh. Re-allotted candidates who already paid in Round 1 pay only the difference, if any. Certificate verification is at the allotted college. Original certificates must be produced in person. Failure to report by the time on the allotment order cancels the selection without further notice. Candidates are advised to watch www.tnmedicalselection.org. No communication will be sent directly.

The tentative Round-II MBBS/BDS counselling schedule posted as 06092026073135.pdf (92.5 per cent) and 06092026073339.pdf (7.5 per cent), with CreationDate Sun Sep 6 14:21:54 2026 UTC (19:51 IST) on the longer file, is the calendar that keeps choice filling and locking open through 13 September 2026 at 02:00 P.M., processes allotment on 14 September, and publishes the result on 15 September 2026. That schedule pair, not the 09.09 newly added-seats notice, is the story.
