Sonodyne lists the SAMA 6000 at Rs 49,999, the SAMA 7000 at Rs 64,999 and the SAMA 8000 at Rs 84,999 on its India website. Price as of 16 October 2026, 22:59 IST. Those steps of Rs 15,000 and Rs 20,000 buy different speaker arrangements, making room layout part of the purchase decision.

This is a comparison of the current listings, not a new-launch announcement or a listening review. Sonodyne already included these systems in its residential brochure dated August 2026. The purpose here is to identify what changes between the models and what buyers need to check at home before ordering.

What changes with each price step

The channel numbers need decoding first. Dolby explains that the first number describes listener-level channels, the second the subwoofer and the last the height channels. In a soundbar system, several channels can sit inside the same cabinet. A 5.1 label does not automatically mean five separate speakers placed around the room.

The SAMA 6000 is a 5.1 system. Its bar contains left, centre and right channels plus side-firing surround drivers, with a separate eight-inch wireless subwoofer included. The product page lists 700W output and three sound modes for movies, music and dialogue. There are no separate rear speakers in this configuration.

For a buyer who wants the equipment concentrated near the television, that arrangement reduces the number of speaker positions to plan. It still needs space for the subwoofer. The dedicated centre channel and side-firing drivers are hardware details; they do not establish how clearly dialogue will sound in a particular home. A demonstration remains useful.

The SAMA 7000 moves to 5.1.2. It adds dedicated upward-firing height channels and uses a ten-inch wireless subwoofer. Sonodyne lists 850W output. Its extra hardware remains in the bar and subwoofer, so this step does not bring separate speakers behind the sofa. The difference to consider is the physical height-channel arrangement, rather than the power figure alone.

The SAMA 8000 changes the installation more substantially. Its 7.1.4 system includes two wireless surround speakers with their own height drivers, alongside the soundbar and ten-inch subwoofer. Listed output rises to 950W. It also provides adjustment of the rear-surround level as well as the subwoofer level.

That makes the top model relevant to someone who can place separate speakers around the seating area. Before choosing it, work out where each unit would stand or mount. Buying the larger package first and leaving its rear speakers beside the television would defeat the practical reason for choosing this layout.

Check the ceiling and the space around the sofa

Upward-firing drivers use the ceiling as a reflecting surface. Dolby recommends a clear path above the soundbar, rather than installing it inside a cabinet or under an overhang. Its soundbar guidance gives an ideal ceiling height of 7.5 to 12 feet and favours a flat, reflective surface. Sound-absorbing acoustic ceiling tiles can weaken that reflected sound. These are general setup principles, not a guarantee of a particular result from either Sonodyne model.

Sonodyne's shared owner manual asks owners to keep the subwoofer at least six inches from reflecting surfaces and experiment with placement. For the SAMA 8000 surrounds, it specifies positions four to six feet from the listener, at seated ear level or up to five feet above the floor. Measure the available space before deciding the rear speakers are convenient.

Wireless also needs careful reading. The manual shows mains power for the subwoofer and a power adaptor for a surround speaker. The wireless link avoids the audio connection to the bar; it does not remove the need to plan power outlets. Check that those outlets can serve the intended positions without leaving cables across a walkway.

The HDMI check matters for a gaming television

The official brochure lists one HDMI input and one HDMI output with eARC for each model, alongside 4K/60 video and Dolby Vision passthrough. It also lists optical, auxiliary and Bluetooth connections. The practical limit is the published 60-frame video path. Buyers seeking higher-refresh gaming should not assume that connecting a console through one of these soundbars preserves every video mode their television supports.

HDMI Licensing Administrator explains eARC as the route that sends audio from a television to a soundbar over HDMI. This allows source devices to connect to the television while audio travels back to the sound system. For a gaming setup, check the television's own high-refresh input and audio-passthrough documentation before choosing that route. eARC describes an audio connection; its presence alone is not evidence of a soundbar's video-passthrough capabilities.

Physical fit is shared rather than an upgrade advantage. Sonodyne lists all three bars at 1,100mm wide, 66mm high and 130mm deep. Measure the television stand and the clearance below the screen. Moving down the range does not get a shorter bar, even though the subwoofer and overall speaker arrangement differ.

Check the invoice and the installation before paying

The manual gives a 24-month warranty against faulty workmanship or materials for the original purchaser buying directly or through an authorised reseller. Claims require the original Tax/GST invoice. Incorrect installation and misuse are excluded, and equipment sent for service must be dispatched carriage paid. Keep those conditions alongside the purchase receipt.

Sonodyne's listed power ratings describe the systems; they do not establish which one will sound better at your normal listening level. Ask for a demonstration using familiar speech and music, then consider whether the additional speaker positions fit your room. This comparison does not rank measured loudness, bass quality or dialogue performance.
